i have never seen so much belly aching in my life. had the changes not been made the place would be ready. LU chose to do so and this is the result. though it does suck, why not get more use out of the building? should the LU planners looked ahead when the project started? probably. this is not a branch deal or an LU athletics deal, it was a chancellor deal. so we suck it up for one game and go back to city stadium. it would be great to do a turn back the clock game with the old school uni's if LU had time, but in any regard it will be worth the wait. personally i would rather be fully operational than 80% not to mention if you rush, you miss things and the structure could have flaws later on. would we have liked for LU to be more forthcoming?? sure, but i understand keeping it quiet. let's just all make the best of it and realize that a full house at city stadium will still be fun and that LU will make it a great day! i do wisdh the game would start at 1 though..lol

haha....yeah....DeMoss Hall says hello.

I'd rather have a grand opening of the stadium than a "well, it will be nicer next game" opening.

...and knowing Coach Rocco, he's already moved on with it and he's told the boys to move on with it and their focus is ahead and not on "if only". "Let's Finish What We've Started"

This is actually the first thing I thought of. Make the game a "Salute to Tradition" or something like that and bring the team out in the old school uniforms. I'm sure someone at LU could spin this into a positive if they tried hard enough -- you KNOW that Doc would have.

As disappointed as we all are, I’m glad they’ve made this decision. No need to rush this for one game against St. Francis (who?). Give them ample time to complete it and complete it right.

I realize it could come off as not a compliment putting you and BJ in the same sentence, but it is. Always makes me laugh, because people get so angry...

I'm doing good..enjoying life in tampa and doing the Air Force thing. I hope all is well with you

This is the difference between a Christian school and a public one. Someone would have jumped all over this comment on another forum (like championshipsubdivision.com).
Wait, I just did it, didn't I?

It would be absolutely awesome if they could come out in the original Packer green and gold LBC unis, but it would cost way too much for just one game. Maybe flameshaw and fsufan could give the team a history lesson/ pep talk with some Rock Royer stories. :cheerleader

The green and gold colored uniforms were beautiful not just our football uniforms but also the BB ones. The colors of LBC at that time reminded me of USF(Tampa) colors. Rock Royer was a member of the church I attended in Tampa at the time he was the coach at LBC. His wife remained at the christian school in Tampa as a PE teacher. Rock was a soul winner, very energetic. I don't think the man ever stopped always going 100 mph. I remember him speaking in chapel, I often wonder how LBC football would have progressed if he did not pass away so early.

How happy do you think St.F is that they won't be playing in front of 20,000 fans in a brand new stadium?

I do like the way they are spinning this. A little history lesson can be a good thing.

Agreed. Especially if someone can come up with some throwbacks... that would be legit!
I remember mentioning throwback UNI's in the LIberty Flames mini helmet thread.

Badger- will you be going to the game? If so, we'll have to talk about tickets.

For the record, the vast majority of LU football games that I have seen in person were at City Stadium. The stadium on campus didn't open until 8 months after I left town.

Perhaps Morgan Hout could come back for ceremonial coin toss.

I think that the last 2 years we played at City Stadium we had some of our best teams (Considering the strength of schedule) especially the last year which was a partial year there and then we opened what what was known as Williard May Stadium. Morgan Hout's recruits and Sam R coaching for 1 year there. The team had some good talent with Eric Green, Donald Smith, Ch. McCray, Carroll, Justino, Hatcher, and others. The game there should bring back some memories of the early division 1 days.
