I'm with Sly, Heat wont win championship in the next 3 years. Not that I care at all, I mean if he had gone to the bulls, i wasnt going to be watching much more NBA on tv just a little more interested when it came on sportscenter. But this was a dumb decision on his part.

Remember that Lakers team with Kobe, Shaq, Gary Payton, Karl Malone, etc.?

Malone and Payton were way past their prime by that point...and they only had one year to try and mesh (while this group should be together for at least a few years)...This group with the Heat is like a younger/better version of what the Celtics did a few years ago, not like what the Lakers tried with Malone/Payton.

I would say the difference here is that all 3 stars are in their prime as opposed to that Laker team or even the current "big 3" in beantown. Clearly, Riley will need to get creative in filling in the roster. Miller seems like he would be a good fit. Some veteren role players looking for a ring who might play for the minimum? I haven't looked closely to see who is out there. It will also help if he gets lucky and rookies Pittman/Vernardo are able to contribute some right away in the post.

Like I said on the other thread, Mike Miller is a perfect fit on this. He can shoot really well, he can pass really well, and he can rebound really well. At times he, Wade, and Lebron can all play the point, so it's not like they are in desperate need to get a PG, they already have three guys that can fill that role now. They just need to get a shooter in that lineup and a guy that can play center so Bosh doesn't have to since he is one of the worst defensive centers in the NBA, ranking well into the bottom half of starting NBA centers in opposition points allowed per 48 at the center position.

This situation has never happened in basketball. Three of the best players in their prime all agree to play together (most likely for the next 5 years). All coming out and saying they are doing it to win championships. While I get that they have big egos they are realistic enough to see that they need each other if they want to win multiple championships. While I wouldn’t say just sign them up for the next 5 years, they are by far my pre-season favorite to win it all.

While he fits the profile of a vet who might play cheap, I can't see Iverson being anything but problems in Miami. I don't think he can adjust his game to be productive without dominating the ball, and that's the last thing they need.

One situation people are completely forgetting is this: the Heat could backload the contracts of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. Meaning, instead of making maybe 13-14 million the first year or two, take only like 8-9 million the first couple years and tack on the money they left on the table the first couple years to the end of the contract.

That would allow the Heat a lot more money right away to go out and get some quality several quality FAs and sign them to a contract for several years along with the second rounders, and then maybe get 2 or 3 minimum salary players to get the minimum of 15 and go just slightly over the cap.

Then when the backends of the big three's contracts kick in, the Heat will be like the Yankees and be like 20 million or so over the cap and people won't be able to compete unless they can spend, spend, spend.

It's bad for the NBA, but it would be the smartest thing possible by Pat Riley to ensure they are able to win championships from day one.

Chalmers can play D. I've also read that the lineup of Chalmers, Wade, Miller, Lebron, and Bosh is plausible and they could press and trap a lot on D and run teams to death on O.

They won't have a good defensive center, but the opposing centers will be completely incapable of playing anything more than 25-30 minutes a night at most unless they are supremely conditioned. It will tire out the MIA starters more, but they are all in really good condition, so it shouldn't be that big of a problem for them.

After Gilbert posted a rant -- in the cutesy Comic Sans typeface -- about James' departure on NBA.com, bloggers, newspaper writers and Twitter pundits lashed back with a collective message that essentially said this:

Unless you're a fourth-grader, or being ironic, or the author of a comic book, or on vacation from the 1990s, never use that typeface...One of the blog's writers, MG Siegler, says the font faux pas is especially egregious given how much press Gilbert's letter is receiving.

Also KG is better than Bosh, Paul Pierce and Ray Ray are better than LeBron (did everyone else watch that series?) and Rondo is better than Wade.
