We're even getting some positive feedback from the locals:

couple pix posted lately showing notable progress: but it looks like it will be a little while yet.

EDIT: another one went up 34 min ago, looks like they are ready to install balcony seating- maybe not as long as I thought. Ready for the fall?

I'd say this has a tiny bit of potential to be better than the existing theater, wouldn't you?

I never even thought about going to anything in the old theatre, but I can't wait to go to one here. I guess it comes with the age though too :oldhag

Looking at the photos if you had told me when I was there we would have a facility like that one day I would have thought you were crazy.

Great to see LU grow.

Having ushered many a show in the old theatre, I will say manson that even if you had wanted to there would be many nights you'd have had a hard time getting a seat. I cant wait for school to start and to get a chance to usher in the new one

LU had its first production in the new Tower Theatre this afternoon: the LU theatre camp (for children) put on Disney's Sleeping Beauty with shows at 2:00 & 4:00. The balcony was closed, and there were fresh paint signs everywhere, but it was nice to sit in LU's new theatre for the first time.

I was surprised that it was only about 5 steps up to the back of the theatre, which has an entrance next to the Tilly Center. The stage is very deep and the ceiling is extremely tall. And I was impressed with both the acoustics and the lighting for the production. The rows were lettered A-T, which means, I think, that there was a total of about 20 rows deep.

Congratulations to Profs. Linda Nell Cooper, Chris Nelson, and all the Theatre Dept. staff!

I was there as well. Not a bad seat in the house. A really nice experience....can't wait to try the balcony. One of the directors told me that the best seat was first row in the balcony.

I'm from roughly the same era as you are, and I was a theatre major. After not having a "home" at all, We thought we were in high cotton when they built the Fine Arts building with the avante-garde "black box" which was/is the Lloyd auditorium. This of course was when Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd were there, and she was directing most of the plays. This new facility is obviously on a whole different level. It's just amazing to see.

apparently this is complete already open? Still looks like it can't seat more than 500, but very nice all the same
