Hey, 3 generations of my dad's family have lived in South Bend. That kind of family tradition is tough to part with because of the last era of crappy football. The big problem with ND is that they demand academic excellence from their players, not just athletic ablity. Some guys (SEC, I'm looking in your direction) can't deal with that.

Well -

Washington always wins in March and April. Not so much come October.

Baltimore, New England, and Philly always find a way to get decent value picks.

Detroit "fills a huge need" every year.

Seattle picked up big names.

The Jets might not give up a touchdown next year.

Cleveland picked up another QB who fell down the first round, and just like last time, that QB will fail to make an impact.

Summary: A disappointing draft. I don't knock the pick of Tyson Alualu at No. 10 because Alualu doesn't have promise. This is a draft -- it's not just about the player. To take a guy you could conceivably get 15 to 25 slots later, you're cheating yourself not just out of sixth- and seventh-round guys, but potentially a late second- or third-rounder. You have to know not just the pick, but the relative value. D'Anthony Smith has some promise as a penetrating defensive tackle, but bottom line, the Jags have just one pick I had in my Top 100 players. That was Alualu.

Riley Cooper was drafted in the 15th round by the Phillies in 2006. They Phillies were planning on drafting him in the 1st round and asked him if he was willing to sign a contract if they drafted him. He told them that his heart was set on football and the Phillies decided to draft Drabeck instead

If Philly fans find this out ( since Drabeck was key to getting Roy Halladay) he may never buy a drink in town again....
