I just spoke to Mrs Purple about this. She said she had her BJ Thomas casette confiscated as well!! Great name from Christian Music's past in Keith Green. By far the most underrated pioneer of early contemporary Christian music. (I also put Resurrection Band, David and The Giants and Kerry Livegreen (ex Kansas guy) on that list as well.) Thankfully, she was able to fall back on her Evie "I;'m only 4'11" but I'm going to heaven and that makes me feel 10 feet tall" Tournquist, collection. She didn't have any Ken Medima (Blind WHITE pianist, not Stevie!) and Honeytree, but those would have been right up her alley!!!

Keith Green was Awesome. I have everything he ever recorded from bittorrent downloads, and don't have to feel a bit guilty because he gave his music away anyway.

You and Jon have your cool insider info, and that's fine, but don't bring it here and put a black cloud over RD's name without bringing actual facts. You can't just say "He did bad things". So have you, so have I. No one is perfect. Either say the specifics, or keep your insider info out of the discussion.

It is the demonizing theory led by SJ so after 3 years it has a life of it owns RD was Huggins, Floyd or Calipari with his recruiting. Smoking guns or manufactured perceptions (as RD calls it)? Because it is directly from the AD office that either RD was evil or now the newest from SJ that JB was directed to remove RD but gave him grace...please. It is a joke. JB was the unethical one. Ask GRM he has it all documented.

Old Flame give RD a little credit for taking a depleted roster and coaching them to respectability after Jeff Meyer quit on the team two weeks into season. Give RD credit for in two years getting us to NCAA tournament. The man had the best five year run of BSC conference finishes in our history, had the most talented roster in our history lined up for the 2007-2008 year. If he would have coached that year I believe it would have been another NCAA tournament. And RD was a Liberty University man, he is committed to his faith and lives it. I have seen the entire past twenty years...those in charge under estimate RD's ability to recruit to Liberty...go back and look at the talent he brought in as an assistant and head coach. And he can flat out coach.

Thank you "To the left" for not caving in to SJ willingness to spread lies and cast dark shadows on a man who gave so many years to the Liberty Vision. Obviously Dr Falwell loved RD and was a tune to his abilities he personally hired him, but when a new AD hits town and has to scratch his ego then the context of the process gets demonized because he can do it "bigger and better". Well it hasn't been the case so now we must discredit RD so JB looks clean. And RD wasn't the only one that was done dirt by JB...Matt Royer as well, so let's not isolate it as a coach issue when there is a lot more credibility that it was an AD issue. Now SJ says just have RD and his friends move away so no one will challenge his politically motivated and vocationally necessary rendition. Who has the agenda?

Ok lets be serious about this. I do not want to slander anyone on here and I am no judge of anyone, but I played for RD for two years and there were some words spoken and activities done that I thought were downright despicable. I may be biased cause I personally do not like the man at all. Do you not think that having 4 assistant coaches and 6 kids transferring in one year shed any light on RD not only as a coach but as a person, come on get real. You might be giving his recruiting skills a little to much praise because if I remember correctly one of his assistants brought in the almighty Larry Blair. I will be the one to say it cause I do not post here often but his handling of the Dwight Brewington situation led to his demise (even though I know he was working his way on out anyways). I am just trying to keep it real those are the facts.

both sides of this arguement are equally responsible for this issue taking a life of its own...we have people close the the AD on one side throwing out vague things and we have those close to RD selecting the facts they want to believe...

in reality I think most of us realize the truth lies somewhere in the middle, just like everything in life when there are 2 completely different accounts of what happend.

I think both sides are equally to blame for this continuing to resruface with niether side willing to admit there is probably things on both sides that they are not aware...but this is what happens when friendships and loyalties get in the way of finding truth.....

oh well...I am happy with our new coach and I think he will get us where we want to go...hopefully when that happens all of this will blow over...sadly, I do not expect it to go away until we win a championship

I am really getting tired of you matter-of-factly stating that Jeff Meyer "quit on the team" checkers. There are some things I could say about Randy in regards to that situation. Randy owed a lot to Jeff Meyer, who brought him to LU and had him promoted to the associate head coach position. Given a choice between standing behind the man who had helped advance his career so much and placing the administration in the difficult position of going into that season with an extremely inexperienced coach, he instead made it easy on them by throwing Meyer under the bus and jumping at the chance to be the interum coach. Please don't tell me it was all for loyalty to LU. His actions before and since bear out that RD has always believed that being the head basketball coach at LU is somehow his God-given right, and apparently his "followers" feel the same. He was told that the same "win or else" ultimatum given to Meyer applied to him, but he somehow seemed shocked when he wasn't handed the job after a losing season and being knocked out of the tourney in the semis. His guys got a win over a weak UVA team (that season, and that loss in particular cost Jeff Jones his job) and in his post-game interview with JE he said "I hope we can take the "interum" out of my job title now". I heard it with my own ears.

Just as much as your tired of checkers, i think its safe to say many of us are tired of you. I mean your "threats"...."ohh i could say", seriously either talk or dont', your old enough to understand this concept. Second, for any coach we could say ohh his wins were over a weak " fill in the blank" squad because they weren't great that year. You know as well as everyone that people don't care if the squad was weak, it was a win over UVA for crying out loud. Heck if I was a coach auditioning for a job and i pulled that win off, i might hope outloud too, anyone would.

Hey, I know I probably get on people's nerves too. The thing about Meyer quitting on the team has been said more than once, and had not been responded too. I have a great deal of respect for Jeff, and I felt that was needed because it simply does not accurately reflect what happened. The part about it being a weak UVA team is also a direct response to what has been said by checkers about any recent success we have had in the BSC being against weaker opposition. I would submit that both could be true.

Here is the question that gave us the restart:

"I wonder how he (JB) sees the shape of the program after his first three years?"

There was a lot of discussion, but I guess I knew there would never be an answer to my question.
I stayed off FF for a while, because it got so intense, and it is all distasteful for me.

I think people should leave RD alone, I think the innuendoes are grossly unfair, and I think we should all be supportive of what's going on at LU right now, giving Dale full support as he does his best for the program.

And RD was not in Dealy Plaza on November 22, 1963, and the last words heard were not, "What's that 'frappin guy doing with the rifle on the sixth floor."

Just to set the record straight.

I have first hand knowledge and experience with both Meyer and Dunton, and have a ton of opinions on the matter. As I have said before I was a huge Meyer fan, and for MAANY reasons, I was not a fan of RD.

However, the last time I checked neither one of them worked for LU in any way, shape, form, or fashion. So can we please move on and Back up one Dale Layer and his guys. If we are real, there has been a ton of drama around this position for years. It was not just Meyer and RD, but Hanky and RMK too.

Dale brings us a chance to bring some credibility back to our program and move things forward in a positive way.

He will most likely do it without knocking the ball out of a opposing player's hands with a clipboard too.
