If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

There was a discussion on ESPN Radio this morning about a proposal the Secretary of Education (a former D1 basketball player) is tossing around. He suggested that teams that do not hit a minimum graduation rate of 40% would not be eligible to participate in postseason tournaments (March Madness & NIT).

They need to set some rules in place so that it's a level playing field. Transfers and early departures to the NBA should not count. Coaches and College Presidents should be held accountable.

Just some stats they through out w/ regards to recent graduation rates:
-Maryland 8% (disgraceful!)
-Kentucky 36%
-Cal 20%
-Louisville 35%
-Clemson 37%
-Georgia Tech 36%

I agree about NBA and transfers.

But in my own world as long as players stay academically eligible during their years of playing basketball, I don't see why graduation rates matter.

This is why the APR exists. The NCAA instituted it because Graduation Rate is an outdated stat that doesn't do justice to how well or poorly a player is doing in school.

Nice to know the DOE is on top of that though.
