That would be interesting at a school like LU. Consider building a statue of a man, and you'll start to hear a lot of comparisons to the golden calf in Exodus, and Nebuchadnezar's giant man in Daniel.

Thats a much more likely scenario.

Hope he takes his time and builds a top class staff to go with him.
Here is the email I got a few minutes ago.

"We have an assistant baseball coach that came to us in the
offseason from Liberty… I have a friend who’s wife works in the
baseball office… per the asst coach this morning, the Liberty
football coach is coming to ECU."

Sounds like one of those brothers sisters best friends dog reasons
but it makes sense to me.

Skip Holtz made 900k this past season. 700k in his regular contract and a 200k bonus for winning back to back CUSA Championships. if ECU would hire rocco you would figure he would get 500-600k?? i doubt ECU has any money issues and im sure Rocco would leave to get more money...it's what coaches do.

If there is no statue of the man who created the place, then I doubt we'd go that route. We aren't Hyles-Anderson College (thankfully).

I have a feeling the unfinished business is a major draw for Coach Rocco to stick around as well as the stadium expansion. Perhaps we bring back the Rock Royer rock idea and tack Rocco's name onto it as well.

the unfinished business he has, probably wouldn't stop him from leaving. If anything I figured that's what would keep ECU from wanting him. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

ok, if rocco leaves; Does barber hire streeter to try to salvage the current recruiting class? imo, i dont think he's ready but at the same time we got a really good class coming. plus we're couple weeks away so if they all jump off, liberty is probably going to settle w/ a juco class.

me, i like ron brown as rocco possible replacement.

Why didn't ECU have anybody under Holtz they could hire? Or did they all follow him to USF.

I prefer Tony Dungy, but Brown would suffice.

Grambling fans are nervous about their man as a candidate as well ...
The Deriso Report wrote:East Carolina search narrows, with Stockstill out

I thought, from the beginning, that Middle Tennessee’s Rick Stockstill was the target in East Carolina’s ongoing search for a new head coach — despite the fact that the school had sought permission from Grambling to speak to Rod Broadway.

So unless the interview is over Skype, or TH is coming to the 'burg, I'd say we're close to out of the woods on this one. Probably gonna be Jags or Shula.

I tend to agree. We have very good reasons for feeling so strongly about Rocco, but we aren't exactly objective. He has been a career assistant, and as far as I know LU is his first real head coaching job. He has resurrected our program, but hasn't taken us to post season in FCS yet. I'm guessing this is not exactly the resume they are looking for in their first choice, but it appears they are well past that point now, so who knows?

From Sly's link:
Broadway is part of a group of candidates said to include Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson, Liberty head coach Danny Rocco, former Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden, North Alabama head coach Terry Bowden, former Boston College head coach and ECU staffer Jeff Jagodzinski and former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach, among others.

FootballCoachScoop.com is reporting that Oklahoma OC Kevin Wilson is headed to La Tech as their new head coach. The La Tech board is skeptical but optimistic. Wilson is also a reported candidate at ECU.

I didn't realize til just now that Jagodzinski was a candidate. He did a good job at BC before he let his ego get out of control and decided to play chicken with his AD. Hopefully he's learned a lesson from that. ECU would benefit from the continuity for sure, and he has head coaching success at a higher level.

I'll give FootballCoachScoop.com credit for one thing, they are nimble ... they have now backed off their claim that Wilson is headed to La Tech. The following our now posted on their site:
FootballCoachScoop.com wrote:East Carolina:
Sources tell us that former Defensive Coordinator Ruffin McNeill was contacted by ECU about their opening last week and declined the interview.
FootballCoachScoop has just confirmed that McNeill will be interviewing this week.
FootballCoachScoop.com wrote:Oklahoma:
Sources tell us that Offensive Coordinator Kevin Wilson is a candidate at both Head Coaching vacancies, East Carolina And Louisiana Tech. Our sources tell us he is very close to being named head coach at one of the schools.
