Greg Pratt
5' 8" 165 lb Running Back
Naples (FL) High School

Rivals Profile - :star :star :star

Scout Profile - :star :star :star

Feature in SW Florida Fishwrap

Many of you probably read the article about the team winning the high school football team from Florida winning 91-0.

Well, one of their best players, Running back Greg Pratt, is on campus for a visit, according to my sources.

Sly can make this profile pretty, but just saying, this kid seems to be a heck of a player.

Pratt visited Liberty last weekend, a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) school in Lynchburg, Va. He said he liked the athletic facilities and the coaches. The trip, he said, opened his mind to attending a school not in the NCAA’s highest level.

“I talked to some NFL scouts and they told me you don’t have to go to a big school to get looked at,” Pratt said. “The (Liberty) coaches said I have a good chance of playing.”

While the college football season is nearing its end in 2008, the recruiting season is running strong and Naples (Fla.) running back Greg Pratt is spending much of his free time with a phone to his ear listening to the overtures of college football coaches. Pratt stands 5-foot-8, weighs 164 pounds and has 4.4 speed in the 40, making the three-star back a hot ticket.

Colorado State remains in the sweepstakes for Naples, Fla. running back Greg Pratt. The 5-foot-8, 164-pound speedster (4.4 in the 40) is beginning to set official visits and, while he hasn't scheduled a trip to Fort Collins, he says he is considering it. According to Pratt, he has scholarship offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Indiana, N.C. State, Pitt, Liberty, Colorado State, Middle Tennessee State and Troy.

I have to admit I am a little torn here... I don't know who needs him more, my Flames or my Rams.

He's visiting Troy, Middle Tennessee State and Pitt in the next three weekends.

With two RB commits already, I am not surprised he is leaning elsewhere. But here is his latest as of this past weekend ...
Rivals.com wrote:The 5-foot-8, 164 pounder took a previous official visit to Liberty back in October, but the race for him appears to be coming down to his final visits in January.

He named a current leader on Sunday night.

"Right now Troy is in the lead. Coach (Chad) Scott has been recruiting me for a long time and me and him have a good relationship. Everything is going good with me and him and my visit down there went good."

There was apparently talk that he'd play in that game. There's another article out there previewing the bowl game that said the "highly regarded freshman" wouldn't play.

Pratt to transfer: Blakeney confirmed the transfer of freshman running back Greg Pratt, a Naples, Fla., native who redshirted last season. He was rated as a three-star recruit on rivals.com, but he redshirted to add bulk to his 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame.

Blakeney wasn’t sure where Pratt would transfer, but he said the running back left on good terms and was given a release to transfer anywhere except a Sun Belt Conference team.

Since he has burned his redshirt year, going to an FCS program would be his logical next move. If he was good enough for Troy to sign him, I expect we gould find something for him to do.

When two of your final choices are Troy and Colorado State, I'd say there's some skill there. This kid could do big things with us, should he choose to join us. ;-)

Let's just say you don't need to start a Facebook group to convince him to come here. ;-)

Pratt is the lone FBS transfer on the list, for now at least. He spent last season at Troy but redshirted. He’s a quick back with great moves on the perimeter, kind of a faster version of B.J. Hayes, which is saying something considering how fast Hayes is. Pratt was a three-star recruit per Rivals.com’s rankings, and he had some interest in Liberty before choosing to go to Troy.
Could be a good reason why Simmons signed with JMU instead of Liberty. Liberty will certainly have some options in the backfield next season.
