One of the most highly sought after (and biggest) prospects in the Class of 2011 will be Liberty Christian Academy's Grant Jones, a 6-foot-5, 297-pounder who has received his first scholarship offer as Liberty University has jumped into the fray for the rising junior.

The Flames aren't the only program checking in on Jones, who has a bench max of 315 pounds, a squat of 400 and carries a 3.2 grade point average, as he's garnered attention from Penn State, N.C. State, and Virginia. But, how does he feel about that first offer?

"I was really exited about getting my first offer, it's really cool that its from Liberty which is the school that both my parents and my brother attended," said Jones, "I like the coaching staff, the facilities and the fans are the best in the FCS, and the fact that they were the first team to offer me means a lot."

Concerning the other programs most seriously recruiting him, Grant finds positives about each.

NC State - "I really like the facilities and the stadium. I also like Coach Horton and I had a chance to meet with my recruiter Coach Willis and he's a really cool guy."

Penn State - "I like how large the campus is and the stadium and fans are second to none, Coach Kenney is a great coach and almost all of my family is from the area and that is a big plus."

UVa - "I like how close they are from home and the fact that they had an offensive tackle get drafted in the first round is definitely a plus."

Recently, Jones attended the Ultimate 100 camp in New Jersey where he earned the praise of Rivals analyst Mike Farrell who wrote, "Jones is physically a monster at such a young age with the look of a monster right tackle or a road-grading guard. He has huge thighs and a big backside and plenty of lower body strength which allows him to anchor well. He needs some upper body work, but he has a good punch and is very aggressive. Jones is a physical player who takes on all comers and loves to mix things up. He had the most physical upside of any offensive lineman at the event although he still has some footwork and technique issues to work on."

It's an assessment that Jones seems to agree with as he describes his on-the-field strength as "finishing blocks and working up on a linebacker" and admits that he would like to improve upon "my footwork and keeping my pad level down."

Though he's attended N.C. State, Liberty and the Ultimate 100 camps, Grant may still head out for a couple more this summer though he has not determined which ones at this time.

Well, he likes Liberty, he likes the area, he likes the coaches, His Dad, Mom, and brother attended Liberty. His uncle is an LU graduate and the TV announcer for Liberty Football. He has a lot of connections to the school. If nothing else I think Liberty is definately in the hunt with all of the connections. I think it's great that Rocco has went after Jones early. It obviously means something to him. I've seen him at LCA, he's a great kid with great potential. Congratulations to Jones on getting the first 2011 offer.

They are refer to his size, not the fact that he is sixteen and going to college
