I got my kids vaccinated last week as well (injection, inactive strain) My wife and I really struggled with the decision, but chose it in the long run. Certainly understand those that choose not to. But our decision came down to this...our kids are at school, daycare for a little while after school, Sunday school, Awana's, and sports teams....their chances of coming in contact with H1N1 are very high. If they were to get H1N1, above and beyond the obvious possibly serious risks of the flu itself for children, it is a huge inconvenience to the family. If they were to be out of school for 5 days (recommended by most doctors), both kids will end up with it, so 10 days total out of school for the kids, then both my wife and I would probably end up with it as well......therefore, both my wife and I are looking at being out of work for a very extended period of time.
And from what I have heard from other parents whos children have had it, their kids were absolutely miserable during that time. If I have the opportunity to prevent them from being that sick, I am going to.... we chose to go with the vaccine.
That was our choice, and each family has to make theirs....
