This was the easiest comparison to make to someone who still uses a simple Nextel phone.
thank you. I think.

"oldies" ???

and the "simple" Nextel is fantastic as well. Its for sending and receiving TELEPHONE CALLS. If I wanted to send emails, watch TV, or listen to the radio, I'd do those things on the appliances MADE TO DO SO. 8)

like a printer cable? I might have one of them.

I don't know if my laptop has that though- I think it just has USB ports.

and I'm actually impressed that I know what USB ports are.

thanks for the help tho
Yes, like some printer cables. Ironically, however, most newer model printers in my experience connect to a PC via USB.
ok- this is what the back of my laptop looks like- do I have the right port or whatever to hook up to my TV? and what cable do I need again?

Medic, we need more pictures. You will need a cable with a 15pin VGA connection (for your laptop). The other end of the cable is dependent upon what connections you have on your TV. Please take another picture. :D

You will also need a PC to TV converter box. It will plug into the VGA port. The cable from the converter box to your TV is dependent upon the type of connection. Picture needed.

Yes and No. Newer model TV's have a VGA port as well. So, you end up going VGA-to-VGA, with need of no converter.

Who has TV coverage of the VMI game this weekend? Presbyterian was the last telecast for the Flames crew. It is not listed on the Big South Network lineup (the Presby/Charleston Southern & Coastal/Gardner Webb games are listed).

It's the Big South game of the week. That means they bring in their own crew and kick out our crew for this week.

That means the game won't be on FamilyNet or JCTV.

It might mean it's not on the Big South Network either because MASN controls all of the rights to the game.

I could just SCREAM

I cancelled Sports Pack on DirecTv because I never get to watch MASN and figured I'd catch "all home games" on JCTV. Except I never know when to tune in. :banghead

PS: more pictures coming

If you do have a similar "blue import thingy", then all you need to do is get a VGA cord, hook up your comp to your TV with it, choose "RGB" from the TV's input options, and then click Funtion+F8 on your computer to toggle through you viewing connection options.

Joking aside, is that simple to you?

I'm just glad that it's not on local tv, because people will come to the game!!!! We've got to fill those seats somehow!

I'm not sure having the game on television adversely affects the overall attendance on a regular basis as the TV coverage builds fans who eventually show up at the gate. But I see you train of thought.

It would be great to have a strong turnout to push us over the 15k average for the season which would make us more attractive when the realignment discussions really start heating up in a year or so.

I was with you up to the part after "hook up your comp to your TV with it"

Go to Best Buy and ask for "VGA cord." Or, just ask them to show you how to use one to hook your laptop up to your comp. Those nerds live for teaching these kinds of things to guys like you.

That's why they call themselves the "Geek Squad" (and I think they even make house calls).
