I can't imagine they would continue to be upset over the act itself, since that player would be long gone. Did Beamer feel that Mickey was not properly apologetic/remorseful or something like that?

VT looks at the state of VA as a family.

They recruit VA high school kids, they wanna play in state Va schools.

They used to play VMI back in the day. The played JMU a little.

The real issue is that JMU and Richmond don't want a L for a paycheck. That's the real reason they wont play. JMU started that after their recent success, and Richmond just never did as they rose to their current level.

VT will play W&M because some of the VT staff has good friendships with W&M staff. VT also loves the tidewater area for recruiting, so makes the trip a double bonus.

I would like to see VT create the relationship with LU because I am a VT season ticket holder and an LU ticket holder.

I would also like to see LU get some of the in state money rather than one of the other schools.

big question i had and if we do play VT it will get answered... if we do play VT how many LU students will be rooting for VT instead of LU??

i almost want it to happen so i can see how many people cheer for VT and i can shake my head and say that they are pathetic fans

You make a great point about the recruiting leverage VT can get from an instate game. And even though some good talent has come out of the Lynchburg area, far more comes out of Tidewater. If this is true, the only way we get this game is if W&M, Richmond, and JMU don't want it.

I still wonder too if Coach and JB really want 2 FBS opponents in one year. I see good and bad associated with that, and wonder where they stand on the issue.

Look at the percentage at a baseball game and multiply it out.

We played two FBS level teams this year (NC State, Buffalo) so if the chance presents itself for LU to play the biggest program in their state, it makes sense to jump all over it.

FWIW, G-W's one FBS game next fall is at Akron in week two.

When I pay nearly $1,000 for my season tix at VT and about $100 for my tix at LU, and when I have been a fan of VT for 28 years and a fan of LU for 5 years.... You better believe I'm hoping VT wins.

But where did you go to school? I believe the question was about LU students (and alumni by extension) and how many of them would pull for VT.

Then there is no excuse. You don't root against the school that gave you a degree, that's just absurd.

Yeah, if you're gonna pull for Tech over the place you got your degree, that's just dumb. You didn't go to Tech. Your degree does not say Tech. You were never in class at Tech. Have some pride in your school. Don't be another embarrassment to us.

I've probably traveled more and followed LU than a lot of the people on this board.

-For all of you who will now freak out and say you have traveled more, I said "some" of you, not all of you.

I love football, I love the X's and O's. I love watching and following good football.

Many of you probably make me laugh.

Many of you probably don't even have season tix for LU or you use your old LU ID to get into games for free.

I am the one who still gives to the LU athletic fund and paid for my season tix, because I know that is how programs make money and move things forward.

 you make me laugh.

You obviously don't know most of us. I graduated in 06. I've had season tickets for all 3 seasons I've been out. All the while I've still been a student in the MBA program-haven't used my student ID once since I graduated from undergrad. I've been a member of the flames club at the highest level I can possibly afford. I've been given free tickets to many games, but always give them to someone else who wouldn't go to the game if they had to pay. I travel to as many road games as the wife will let me.

My dad is the biggest UVA fan I know. He has had season tickets since before I was born. He used to take me to every home game until I started going to LU. Honestly, now I could care less about UVA. Sure they've sucked lately, but even if they were playing for the conference championship I'd rather go support LU. I've also converted my dad to follow LU as he's gone to more LU games this year than UVA.

So don't bring that crap

Grew up a huge UNC fan, but when LU played them in the NCAA tourney, I was sooooo cheering for LU. Sure it was hard, but my allegiance lies where I went to school, and where I hope my kids go.

Well Jcmanson-

You are correct, I don't know you.

I'm glad to hear you are a member of the Flames Club.

Sorry that I didn't know you didnt' abuse the system like others I have come across.

And obviously none of us are going to agree, and that is fine, because I can't really imagine people understanding that I went to LU for the purpose of my education to become an Army Chaplain, but that I would still follow VT football.

Following VT is fine.

LU is your Alma Mater, LU provided you the unique opportunity to get the education to become an Army Chaplain. LU is YOUR school, LU should take precedence.

Was funny how while Mr Barber was telling the students to be fans over other schools, when he would mention another school people would cheer for that school.

They were freshmen. That's why he was telling them that. It's too bad no one got a chance to tell you that Liberty was your school when you were a freshman.

I've been a lifelong Carolina fan. Since I've been at Liberty I have been at two games in person where I pulled against Carolina. I had no problem with it. Liberty first.
