I have no proof or link, but the few times I come on here, I give real info.

Virginia Tech has removed Western Michigan from their 2010 schedule b/c WM wants to play Norte Dame. Virginia Tech is moving its game against Boise State from Oct to Labor Day night, and that puts VT in a spot to find a opponent fast.

"# Western Michigan, who Tech was going to play next year, has been moved back to 2016. Weaver got a call from them about 2.5 weeks ago. The Broncos have a chance to play at Notre Dame next year, and they are the first team in the MAC to play Notre Dame.

# Virginia Tech has been asked to play the Boise State game on Labor Day night rather than October 2. Coach Beamer was all for moving the game. Tech will now play a short week, on Monday (Labor Day) and the following Saturday. That Saturday game will be a home game."

The part I do not have link to is that Jim Weaver has listed LU as an option to play on Oct 2. I heard from some people in the VT athletic staff that VT wants to go with a VA school like JMU, Richmond, W&M, or LU.

Don't know how it will pan out, but I hope it ends with LU playing at NCSTATE and VT in 2010.

I played in the LU athletic golf tournament and Jeff Barber said we were playing NC STATE in 2010 when he helped out team putting on the 3rd hole.

Has that changed or just different year?

:banghead Where did my post go?

I like the idea of Liberty playing 2 FBS games next year with the addition of the autobid for the Big South Conference. There is an opportunity to add some good money to the program. It would be great to have an opportunity to play VT next year, but if not them I hope there is consideration of other FBS teams.

Who is actively working on the schedule? Jeff Barber, AD's office, Football office????

since BJ seems to be poster of the day to pick on. I think he's working on the schedule, watch out he might work out something with some apprentice school in the northeast. I'm sure there are tons of random stats he could find for that game.

Ball State is the FBS team scheduled for next season on Sept. 11. I know Barber doesn't necessarily want to play two FBS schools in a given season, but a VT opportunity would be difficult to pass up. I meant to chat with Paul R. Saturday about next season's schedule progress anyway, so I'll find out if there's any real talk between the two sides.

As for W&M and Richmond, I think they're already booked with FBS games next season. Not sure about JMU.

Haha if I was working on it Id be trying to get a date with Maine (or maybe a home and home with Sam Houston or Lamar) or a home and home with ODU. LU needs one more game right now and they dont want to schedule a DII again so as much as I wouldnt like the idea of a second FBS game if the opportunity is there Id go for a game with the Hokies. I thought we had them down the road though...

JMU does NOT have an FBS game on the schedule for next year yet. I'm assuming it's going to be us.

Saying this with total distain for Va. Tech....GOOD LUCK. I would not say that had your team not tanked ever since you played LU. I hope that the ship gets corrected over there but can you really be happy seeing them as one of the teams you are going to play with the way things are going now?

Next year we will have a healthy Dudzik, and with Thorpe's bad play he's likely been cemented as a starter.

I am optimistic for next year but to be honest things are looking better right now and in the future for JMU basketball than football.

What makes you just assume it will be JMU? How do you know what VT is looking for? I have no idea what they are looking for to fill that spot and neither do you!

In all seriousness, this would be cool. I still don't think we would want 2 1A (yea, I said it) games in one season. And even though I fumed at the JMU dork, I think they would be Weaver's first choice. We'll see, it would be Awesome if it happened.

Already having a football relationship with VT, JMU wouldn't surprise me, as well.

You mean their band didn't cooperate? NO WAY

IF

We start picking up more quality OOC games like JMU, THEN we dont need it.

ELSEIF

We have more NC Central + DII games, THEN let's schecule 3 FBS games.

To be honest, the schedule doesn't matter as much anymore. Sure I'd rather play 3 JMUs than West Virginia Wesleyan, but as long as we win the conference who cares who we play?

Do you want to always play in the play-in weekend or would you rather have a bye week and play the next week?

I know, but I think to start with we're going to be playing the play-in weekend regardless until we prove we can win games in the playoffs. JMHO

A game against VT would be great for the Flames. Our game against WVU certainly opened some eyes and gained us a little respect outside of the Big South. The exposure itself would be too much to pass up.

In 2003, a JMU player recklessly slammed VT's Kevin Jones into a wall after a touchdown run. That's what he's talking about. Beamer was pretty furious about the whole thing.
