Congrats on getting accepted, as for getting scholarships, start by checking to see if any of the sports teams need a manger. It could get you a scholly now, or it could play itself into a GA position later 8)

If you have a 1270 SAT or 29 ACT, stop by the Honors Program office on the 3rd floor of DeMoss for an Honors application. Those accepted get an annual $3750 scholarship, if they can maintain a 3.50 GPA: that's $15,000 over 4 years.

I don't know it they are still doing it, but for the last several years I've been getting mailers on Alumni scholarships that can be used for whomever we want.

I think its 500 or 1k. Not sure.

I don' think you can stack them though

You should come to LU for a year, then bash it and transfer to Duke.

when i filled out one of those expense estimator things that would tell you how much scholarship money you could get, it automatically told me scholarships i qualified for.

Congrats, Dom. Don't be shy about heading up to campus and flat out asking the financial aid folks what some of the more creative scholarships are that have been landed recently. Sometimes there are obscure scholies out there funded by private organizations or even the Commonwealth that are there for the taking if you can qualify.

Thanks guys. I've been in contact with the coaching staff of the basketball team, and I worked at the camp this summer so I should have a manager job when I attend LU. I didn't know there was a scholarship for that though

There might not be one. It just depends on which team you work for and how the coach chooses to handle it and what the NCAA guidelines for that sport are.

when i got into grad school my advisor said there is like some sort of scholarship backed by tobacco folks for VA residents. i don't know if that's available for undergrads or not though.

I know from a reliable source that football has scholarship managers, but you have to work at least a year to get one if it is available. Most teams wont give scholarship unless they know how you work and how reliable you are.

Congrats, Dom. As Sly said, take a shot at asking; you never know what might happen, as I found out when I went back for a second go around.
