Sprint announced that the Blackberry Tour will be released on all networks coming in Aug. It has better reviews then the Bold although lacks Wifi which sucks. I can still use it for a modem though so that's good.

This was code name Niagara for those that heard of that.

It's supposed to be available for Verizon next month, right?

Yup...rumor is VZ will get it first but only by a month or a few weeks...nothing like 6 months or anything...they may even be released at the same time...they are in a hurry to keep to many people jumping ship to the Pre

There is supposed to be a Verizon WiFi-enabled version of the Tour coming out late this fall. I was all about getting the Tour until the WiFi issues were pointed out. I guess I'll be hanging onto my ancient 8830 for awhile longer.

Decided to wait til after camp ended to upgrade but with it ending yesterday, I went out and got a Storm. Still trying to get used to the keyboard but so far I'm liking it.

Some of the guys in my office picked up the Tour this past week. So far, the one guy who knows phones loves it. Another who has no clue just tells everybody that he has the best BlackBerry even thought he has no idea how any of the functions work.

It was a little thicker than I expected. Not as bulky as the Bold but still thicker than I had hoped.

the minute someone shows me one of these with the Nextel push to talk feature (and it should be ruggedized) I'll buy it.

I was told by a friend the other day that Vz and Sprint are going to be getting the Iphone. I have been searching online to confirm this but was curios if anyone else has heard this?

Nextel Blackberry 8350i

I had it, it's a great phone and a lot of upgrades have been made since I had it. I got rid of it b/c I dont like the Nextel network here in Lynchburg but you wont have a problem in Philly

At some point this will happen...it would be nice but dont look for anything to be done before 2012. Now a days VZ and Sprint have phones while not exactly like the Iphone offer enough good features to compete. Between the Tour or the Pre you can find a phone that you'll love just as much as the Iphone. I'm telling you, you know how many phones I've gone thorough but after making the switch to BB I havent. Honestly I'd have to think about giving up my tour for an iphone for practicality reasons

Yes the Pre is pretty nice. One of my friends got it and I used it for a few minutes, obviously a pretty limited trial run, but I liked it and he likes it a lot too. I've heard others speak very positivvely of the Storm as well.

However, since I have an iPod Touch, I want to eventually get an iPhone so I can use all the apps I've paid for on it. Going to take one might impressive phone to convince me to do otherwise, or Apple will just have to go Hitler on the app store - which at the rate they are going with the app store rejection policy that could be any day now...

You have a tour? I am due for an upgrade and want this phone. What BB model did you have before this one?

Finally! someone I can send my location to and they'll be able to see it. PM me your blackberry PIN. Then you can be in on our secret conversations. The storm has a pretty high learning curve and that's why almost everybody who uses it for a little bit hates it. But once you get used to typing on it, it's totally worth it.

I'm almost used to typing on it already. I really like it. I don't have a ton of apps but really, I don't need them. I just want my e-mail, the internet, and phone.

Get GPS Tracker first thing. I think I got it in App World and it's free. It sends your position to instamapper.com however often you set it (more often the more battery drain), and so you can log into your account and see the GPS history. I think it's a nice feature to have if your phone gets stolen because it's always running in the background and it can be set to automatically start on a phone start up.

On a side note, when you're in Lynchburg, is your signal 1X or 1XEV?

What's the difference between the two? I'm assuming one is faster or more reliable, but by how much?

Well, it's supposed to be: 1X means you have a data signal but it's not very fast. 1XEV means you have a broadband 3G data signal.

However, we've had a frequent discussion here that Lynchburg's signal, while not the fastest version, is still technically 3G. But my phone only ever shows 1X while JDUB and others' phones show 1XEV. (I get 1XEV in other major areas like Richmond and NOVA.)
