Well its time now to move to the offensive side of the ball and with all the talk about who is going to be our starting QB (that outlook will be saved for later), Why not take a look at who said starting QB will be throwing to next year:

Lost:

Jonathan Crawford Staunton, VA (Graduation)
Dominic Bolden Orlando, FL (Graduation)
Steven Crawford (Left program)
Matt Lambros Calgary, AB (Graduation)
Eugene Rogers Grovetown, GA (Graduation)
Mark Blakeney Midlothian, VA (Left program)
Brit Campbell Lynchburg, VA (Left Program)
Stetson Tchividjian Fort Lauderdale FL (Left Program)

Returning:
Danny Broggin Redshirt Junior Brookneal, VA (Switched to RB)
Jimmy Eden Redshirt Freshman Peachtree City, GA
Aaron Hewlett Redshirt Senior Virginia Beach, VA
Chris Summers Redshirt Sophomore Jacksonville, FL
Chuck Duffey Redshirt Senior Lakeland, FL (Switching from DB)
Kyle DeArmon Redshirt Junior Clearwater, FL (Switching from QB)

Incoming:

Ervin Garner 5-9 160 Lbs. Fairfax, VA (Oakton HS/Virginia Tech)
Patrick Kelly 6-3 190 Lbs Lynchburg, VA (Liberty Christian Academy)
Freddie Brown 6-3 210 pounds Duncan, SC (Byrnes HS/University of South Carolina)

This is probably one of the biggest question marks on the offensive side of the ball outside of who will be our starting QB. The Flames have lost two absolute monster WRs in Jonathan Crawford (second team all conference at WR in 2008) and Dominic Bolden (forst team all conference at WR in 2008 AND second team all conference at KR). VT transfer Ervin Garner should give the Flames a boost while local product Patrick Kelly has a chance to come in and play right away. The X-factor in all of this is probably Chris Summers. At 6-4 he would be very capable of causing matchup problems for many DBs but he has not lived up to potential so far (although with some of the receivers that graduated the last couple years he hasnt had a ton of opportunity). Aaron Hewlett certainly gives the Flames a speedy option as well. Chuck Duffey coming over from the defensive side should add some needed depth as well.

Alright guys, you know how this works by now...and as before, if any of the information I have listed is in error, feel free to note it (Im going off the 2008 roster and things Ive read on this board)

I didnt forget about him RC...as of right now he will be in the outlook for QBs. I dont see why you had to put in that last part though...

You forgot Freddie Brown and Kyle DeArmon,

I’m not sure who is going to start, but I’ve heard how great Eden looks. I would like to think Summers could start as well.

So who is better in the slot, Ervin Garner or Jimmy Eden? and can Summers hold on to a ball? I wonder if Pat Kelly will start some.

My personal take is that Summers Garner and Freddie Brown will be the first three and youll see guys like Eden and Hewlett and maybe even DeArmon and then depending on the QB situation we could even see Mike Brown in that 5th spot. Him, Hayes and Hewlett could even be integrated into a "speed package".

Blakeney, Campbell and Tchividjian left the program before spring practice started. They were walk-ons who were decent practice guys but not contenders for playing time.

BJ, Broggin has been playing RB since the third week of last year so he's already made the switch. Britt Campbell isn't even on the team anymore.

Unless Garner has drastically improved, I wouldn't expect too much out of him.

The top guys coming out of the spring were Eden, Summers, and Pat Kelly in my opinion. Kyle DeArmon might be able to break into the rotation too. Whether I agree with playing him at WR or not, Mike Brown is by far our best returning receiver.

BJ, I realize it's your birthday and all, but you've got to list Mike Brown as WR, too. When Beecher is in at QB, I'd be shocked if Brown wasn't at WR.

I think the WR are going to surprise people. They stepped up during the spring game in my opinion. I think they top 3 guys will be Summers, Eden and Garner. Freddie Brown will work into the rotation by the JMU game. He wont be here until camp and that will hurt him. Kelly and DeArmon are 2 other great options. Duffey will a special teams guy. I cant see him working into the rotation and playing WR. Also Mike Brown WILL play WR. Why would we sit him or Tommy Beecher? If Tommy starts then Mike can play WR and then work into QB like he did last year. We just cant afford to have MB sitting the bench.

What reason would you object to him playing WR? Did you see any value in him as the 5th string QB (if that)?

He was referring to Brown, not DeArmon.

Who are these guys: Brandon Apon, Cody Frigden, Bellmon Hicks, Josh Medlin?

I dont see them listed in this thread, but they are all listed as WRs on the Roster on the school's website?

I think Hicks and Medlin were on the roster in the spring. Im not sure about Apon, but Cody Fridgen actually is a pole vaulter on the track team. I guess Coach Rocco heard about him and gave him a shot on the gridiron (Lib or SJ might be able to shed more light on that one)

Cody was on the team last fall. Apon is a walk on I believe and the other two I have never heard of.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
