Well Practice starts Thursday so its time for the final installment and we are gonna look at the special teams unit. Going into last year this group was a bit of a question mark with UVA transfer Noah Greenbaum finishing up but they certainly rose to the occasion even despite injuries. Here's a look at what we have for 09:

Lost:
Dan Pope Palm City FL (graduation)

Returning:

Matt Bevins Sophomore Newport News VA (K/P)
Mike Larsson Sophomore Monroe, NC (P)
Ben Shipps Redshirt Sophomore Venice, FL (K)
Paul Young Junior Woodbridge, VA (K)
Aaron Hewlett Redshirt Senior (KR/PR)
Larry Claiborne Redshirt Sophomore (KR/PR)
Mike Brown Redshirt Sophomore (KR/PR/H)
Jimmy Eden Redshirt Freshman (KR/PR
BJ Hayes Redshirt Sophomore (KR/PR)
Chris Rocco Senior (H)
Spencer Landis Senior (H)

Incoming
Robby Cramer 6'1" 225 Lbs Hoover, AL (Hoover HS) (LS)

LU lost probably one of the most dangerous KR in the Big South last year with the graduation of Dominic Bolden, but as with many of the positions, the cupboard is by no means bare as you have five guys who all could really break some big ones back this season. The kicking game is solid this year as all the kickers from last year are back, including YSU hero Matt Bevins who came in as a true freshman last seasonand going 12-16 on field goals with a long of 44 yards. Paul Young is back after fracturing his leg last season and will probably factor in on extra points and maybe some short field goals.

Alright boys, this is the last one before practice starts. Discuss and cant wait to hopefully see many of you guys for the home opener on Sept. 12

I hope we get away from using one kicker for EPs and short FGs and another for long FGs.

I think it takes away from any momentum the kicker could have throughout the course of a game. Also, if the kicker knows 100% he gets an opportunity if/when the team gets into field goal range he is able to get in the correct mindset rather than wondering - "will I get called on, or will we be too close." Just one less thing to think about.
