Well, Rubio has sucked quite a bit this year over in Spain. From what I have heard, he has been absolutely dreadful in the playoffs. That's got to scare away a lot of people. If you can't perform in the playoffs in Europe with the experience he has, how are you going to do it here?
Secondly, doing well in the Olympics in international/Olympic competition isn't the best indicator. Ever heard of Carlos Arroyo and Darko Milicic. They are pretty nasty in international hoops, and yeah that never has translated into much success in the NBA. Hammed Haddai for the Iraw team (I think it's Iraq) did really good in the Olympics this year and he rode the bench with the best of them this year in Memphis, a team that was sorely lacking in the post player department outside of a decent Marc Gasol.
