do some people realize that everyone on your friends list is notified when you write something to someone or make a comment…

a couple from our class (me and my wife are the interim newlyweds teachers) left our class about 2 months into us teaching it. they invited the class to a party they were having. me and my wife felt we should go. we did….and we were the only one in the class who did. apparently this isnt the first time its happened. basically it was us and this other couple and a few of their couple friends who don't go to our church. great right? no. a chance to maybe get more people to come to church. they basically all got sloshed. I finally after a 1/2 hour (yes that’s all the time it took them to get hammered) decided I wasn't sticking around. they are a different breed, I'll just leave it at that. well I think they either took offense or were embarassed because they left our class and basically left the church.

anyway, a few months ago, she started coming back to the class. but hasn't been back for a few weeks. well someone brought up in class yesterday that they are putting stuff on facebook about getting a divorce….i today go on there and I'm like what on earth.

its like they are having an argument for everyone to see….whats funny is after each thing of their posts, their family is commenting on the update pleading with them to get help.

the dudes latest status update is "MINE AND HER FAMILY NEED TO BUTT OUT OF OUR BUSINESS…THIS IS ONLY BETWEEN ME AND BECKY, PLEASE LEAVE US ALONE"

….uh between you and becky and YOUR ENTIRE FACEBOOK NETWORK…

this was long and i'm assuming not even midly entertaining....my apologies...

You should start counseling them in the open, and post it all here.

for 2 years now. I only got in originally because I’m a pastor son. I think they also wanted some young blood in the meetings and me and another guy who is under 30 are having some fun shaking it up.

For example, we have had a designated coffee area for a long time in the church. Basically the classrooms and the gym are it. Anywhere else they don’t want to deal with spills. Well our singles pastor is starting a thing on sat nights and requested permission to allow drinks in the lobby (its carpeted). After listening to 45+ yr old guys go on and on and on about how we should NEVER allow this, I basically said this:

While people shouldn’t come to a church because they allow coffee in the lobby, we should be trying to reach people to be apart of this church. 2 churches that do these types of little things have basically left us in the dust and each see attendances of 2 to 3 thousand attendees. (we were at one time one of the largest churches in the area and still are at about 1000 members) we are slowly becoming the old church of the community, we are like the old people who put plastic covers over their couches and plastic mats leading you throughout the house. They didn’t like it. But the pastor agreed with me.

Or just don't do Facebook. No one is actually required to share every aspect of their lives with every living being.

Ha. You said "chum".

My wife digs it but, in my experience, Facebook is a great way to re-connect with those people you wish you hadn't met to begin with.

Yes to friends lists and privacy filters - or be aware that you're saying things for everyone to see . . .

yes facebook is a great way to keep in touch. one of my friends only has one email address and that is with his employer, and my emails from all email addresses always bounce back because of their firewall, so facebook is a good way to keep in touch.

i was talking to my dad on the phone and he just told me "hey i facebooked you something while we were talking" in my inbox is a message from him saying, "can you help me set up my new printer sometime this week"... at that moment i fully expected a blackhole to open up and suck everything within a 5 mile radius in....i'm contemplating deleting him as a friend.

I am an admin assistant to the youth pastor at my church and the only way you can get a hold of youth is cell's sometimes, texting(I don't have it) or Facebook. They don't answer email. They also forget that people see their comments, their language, their pictures...
I am very careful as they can see mine too.

I deleted my sister, cousins and my mom's coworkers. I don't need them following the details of my life too closely and reporting back to mom.
