Evan Gordon knows what it means to play well in Las Vegas. After all, he watched his older brother Eric set up shop in Sin City before moving on to Indiana.

The younger Gordon put in some big time work on Wednesday, scoring 26 points for his Indiana Elite LNO squad. The 6-foot-1 guard put on a scoring show (just like big bro) by driving to the hole and scoring at the rim.

Gordon, a class of 2009 prospect, said he'll likely visit Penn State in August. He also has offers from Kent State and Butler. Indiana and Miami-FL are also showing interest, he said.

His brother is 6'4" 222; I wonder if Evan is still growing.

He was getting offers and looks from places above us on the totem pole, not sure why we should be thinking he won't be a contributor. He's a scorer with raw ability.

I remember seeing him play in a scrimmage against Lynchburg last season at Lynchburg. He didn't really shine as much as you would think by looking him but the Hargrave system doesn't necessarily make all their players stand out individually due to all the talent surrounding them - that's not an insult to him, former Florida commit Deshaun Painter was terrible in that game. I know a few years ago when Hargrave was just ridiculously nasty and extremely deep at every position (that was the year they had Joe Alexander, formerly of West VA and now with the Mil. Bucks) that they sent a third stringer that didn't play much to an ACC school, I believe.

I like the signing but I'm struggling to get passed seeing another Curry-like dash as soon as a bigger program comes knocking.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but it still stings a little bit...especially seeing the similarities in these two.

The one thing making me feel a little better that we won't get Curry'd is the fact that he had offers from bigger schools and chose us.

Not that it matters much, but he also has LU ties which the Currys did not.

Great, the comparisons have started...

It's hard not to start the comparisons. Still very fresh in all of our minds.

From Dr. Sheh's link (above & below):

It lists our entire signing class and ranks them.

Looks to be a solid class. We've got a solid group coming back and if we can get good contributions from these guys, there's no reason we can't be hosting a first round Big South game next March. Right now my preseason rankings would be:

Radford
Winthrop
Asheville
Liberty
High Point
VMI
Gardner-Webb
CCU
CSU
PC

I'm not as sure about the bottom half of that as I am the top half.

The only bad thing is that we are going to have to hear comparisons between him and his brother, just as we did with Seth. If he ever gets mentioned on TV a camparison will quickly follow

I had a conversation about Evan with Eric Senior last year and how he was looking at LU. At the time I thought Ritchie was recruiting him but it could have been Dale. Anyway, coach Meyer tells me that the youngest brother is going to be better than both of the older ones but he is still in middle school I think. I really hope we see the Gordon's in the Vines a lot next season. Really good people!

Who cares if they compare him? Media attention is media attention.

Yeah I know, it doesnt bother me. But a lot of people complained about any article or TV feature with Seth they always mentioned Steph, and how sick they were getting

Pretty impressive class considering the circumstances and mass exodus from the program.

Current Rankings IMO

Radford - Returns 4 starters including 2 1st team Big South players, stud transfer becomes eligable, and one of the top recruiting classes in the conference coming in.
Winthrop - Returns everybody and has a top recruiting class as well. Who will step up as a scorer? Can anyone make a jump shot?
UNCA - Tons of shooters....nothing down low.
Liberty - New coaching staff, influx of players... great job landing quality players late in the signing period
Coastal - Good young guards, solid recruiting class...i just have a hunch they do better than expected next year
VMI - Still playing basketball like it's a video game, minus the seniors with enough skill to win.
GWebb - I can't name one player who will start for them other than Grayson Flittner? Tons of turnover on their roster
High Point - New coach and they will still suck.
CSU - hahahahahaha
Presby - Redshirting all their players that made them the biggest surprise of last season.

NOT funnny. :nono :furious :fight

Gordon is ranked #80, which is the highest recruit that Layer has signed (#76 Vander Pol was signed by McKay). And Layer's incoming class is much more balanced, with one player for each position:

PG--Gordon
SG--Perez
SF--Konan
PF--Burrus
C--Vander Pol
I think Layer is doing a wonderful job with recruiting. I like the way he has recruited different positions and that it is balanced, like you said. I also like that now we have some more fowards to add to the list. But, I must give Coach McBetray props on how well they did last year with a 5-guard offense.

Is it possible that the bigger schools said he was going to redshirt, or at least sit, for the first few years but we offered to have him play out of the gates?

I think that his parents really genuinely like Liberty and probably Dale Layer. It happens guys. It is going to be fun watching him play in a Liberty Jersey. hopefully this will be the continuation of Hargrave players coming to Liberty.

He's actually the second guy to come to LU from the HMA PG program if memory serves me correctly

The last one that came to LU was Nathan Campbell right? Sounds like he's going to be playing at LC this upcoming school year...

Forget comparisons to his brother, if he brings a fraction of what his dad brought to LU as a player we'll be living large. Terrific pickup.
