i agree pbow....its completley retarded...i know quite a few chrisitans that are democrats. and while i understand their position i dont' agree with it, i can see why they feel the way they do.

It just got put in the newspaper that Liberty's official policy is you can't be a Christian and be a Democrat. People won't care that Hine denied saying that. I love my school but man we do some stupid stuff sometimes.

Are we trying to be a university, a ministry, or a political movement? I think you can do two of those but can't do all three at the same time.

I'm just throwing this out there, and maybe it's completely crazy, but what if one of these kids who were democrats but held "our" views on homosexuality and abortion decided to run for office. That's one more person vouching for "our" side on the issue while coming from the democratic party. To me, that seems like a good thing.

We should minister to all but not bring ourselves down in doing so...we should minister to gays but not allow gay groups to meet and advertise on campus. There are "Christian" gays out there who live by the same standards we do in not participating in sexual acts before marriage or union but that does not mean we should allow them to participate on campus just because they believe in the Bible, God and everything we do minus a few things like marriage should be between 1 man and 1 woman.

It is a slippery slope and "ministering" (some would consider it supporting) to these groups can quickly turn into more

that's not what he said. however, i seem to recall bringing issue to the fact that LU HAD a democrats club in the first place. i seem to recall saying on the FF thread that it went against everything the university stood for...hmmm

personally, it seems to me that quite frequently, moral and political beliefs go hand in hand. id like to see which parts of the party line "christian democrats" believe and which ones they dont. especially since the Dem's want to outlaw the mere mention of God and the exercise of prayer in every public group. they seem hell-bent on stamping out every inalienable right granted to us by our "Creator" and "Nature's God" as stated in the Declaration. but hey, when you undermine the basic rights and freedoms that the country was founded on, it's pretty easy to set up a soft-tyranny followed by tyranny in general. after all, if the government has all the answers, well... you can figure out the rest. who needs all that stuff about not working and not eating, parables of the talents, etc... after all, they're just fairy tales, right?

I agree with mallet. One of my good friends and a pastor at my church is a democrat. He is socially conservative but very much for the liberal fiscal plans. He also grew up in a part of Michigan where is entire family is a member of a union.

This has bad written all over it. Aligning religion with a specific party is never in our interests. Jerry once said the only difference between Republicans and Democrats at the national level is the amount of alcohol they consume - and Republicans drink more.

I'm so baffled by this I'm thinking maybe there's some background we don't know about. Maybe the key in LU's statement is "whose parent organization stands against" their moral principals. Maybe they tried to get them to drop their official affiliation with the DNC (if there is one) and they wouldn't. Because obviously in that case the DNC's official stance on, I don't know....... ABORTION, is pro. If that's the case then I don't see how you could have an LU organization connected with that. I don't know. I'm just shooting in the dark.
