He’s already on campus. Kelly, an athletic, rangy receiver with good hands who can catch balls in heavy traffic, graduated early from LCA so he could enroll at Liberty. He’ll be able to participate in spring practice and figures to have a chance to play early for a Liberty team replacing standout receivers Dominic Bolden and Jonathan Crawford.
“We’re excited about having him in the program,” Liberty coach Danny Rocco said. “He’s had an outstanding high school career. Not only has he won a lot of games, he’s done a lot of things statistically.
“He’s got good size. He comes from a good, winning program. I’m convinced he’s going to have an opportunity to have an early impact on our team.”
As a senior, Kelly caught 46 passes for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also played cornerback for the Bulldogs.
“He came to our camp in the summer,” Rocco said. “It’s a guy we’ve been tracking for a while. He had an outstanding camp. He can catch the football. He’s got great hands. That’s probably the biggest thing — body control and hands — that make him a kid who can really help us.”

I have an audio highlight of his TD against Bishop Ireton in the 2007 state championship. It was the kind of play you wish was on TV it was that goodBut remember BJ that was against a christian school league in VA. They didnt play anyone. We will see what he has got when he goes up against the WVU corners. I think it will be a little different.

If you know anything about Virginia High school football you would know that the privates are at least on the same level as AA. A D1 private state champion taking on a AA state champion would be a great game. During some years you can make the same claim against the AAA level.BJWilliams wrote:One thing I will say about Pat from doing LCA games a couple years ago on the radio (and GMTM can verify this) If you put a ball up in the corner of the end zone (or really anywhere in the end zone) for him he WILL go up and get it. LUFan23 wrote:Didnt they just change the rule in VA where a private school can play a public school. And if my sources are correct LCA is playing against Charlotte Christian next year and a couple public schools here in VA. But this is getting off topic. Patrick Kelly can play. We all know that but what was said on the other thread was that he was going to be in the Top 4 for the receivers. I just dont see that happening. Right now the top four going into fall with just counting the play of spring ball would be Summers, Eden, Garner and DeArmon. Counting Hayes as a RB of course.I got your source:) First game of the year is against Gretna...
