Wow! Kelly had a good game tonight, but I feel like I lied because he did drop a sure touchdown pass. He did have three TD's tonight so I guess he made up for it.

Patrick made his choice a week ago... I talked him this week and he really is looking forward to staying home and playing... He is a great WR and will make an impact in the next few years... Now as for Mr.Rocco it will very interesting to see if he stays... He will be getting a ton of FBS offers and if Happy Valley comes calling it will be very tough to say no...

Yeah it seem like he always has Nittany Lions gear on in the pics I see of him. But I wonder if JoePa were gone would influence his leanings considering that is who his dad played for back in the day. Whoops, I'm steering this thread ...

This guy is clutch. His speed is one thing that separates him from everyone else.

He is very fast and can catch the ball anywhere on the field.

Def. a great addition to the football program!

GO PAT! :!:

I think having PK and Summers on the field together could really make life interesting for defensive backfields

NewsAdvance wrote:Pat Kelly, a 6-3, 190-pound receiver from LCA, didn’t need to sign a letter of intent stating he would attend Liberty University.

He’s already on campus. Kelly, an athletic, rangy receiver with good hands who can catch balls in heavy traffic, graduated early from LCA so he could enroll at Liberty. He’ll be able to participate in spring practice and figures to have a chance to play early for a Liberty team replacing standout receivers Dominic Bolden and Jonathan Crawford.

“We’re excited about having him in the program,” Liberty coach Danny Rocco said. “He’s had an outstanding high school career. Not only has he won a lot of games, he’s done a lot of things statistically.

“He’s got good size. He comes from a good, winning program. I’m convinced he’s going to have an opportunity to have an early impact on our team.”

As a senior, Kelly caught 46 passes for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also played cornerback for the Bulldogs.

“He came to our camp in the summer,” Rocco said. “It’s a guy we’ve been tracking for a while. He had an outstanding camp. He can catch the football. He’s got great hands. That’s probably the biggest thing — body control and hands — that make him a kid who can really help us.”

One thing I will say about Pat from doing LCA games a couple years ago on the radio (and GMTM can verify this) If you put a ball up in the corner of the end zone (or really anywhere in the end zone) for him he WILL go up and get it. I have an audio highlight of his TD against Bishop Ireton in the 2007 state championship. It was the kind of play you wish was on TV it was that good

But remember BJ that was against a christian school league in VA. They didnt play anyone. We will see what he has got when he goes up against the WVU corners. I think it will be a little different.

just him doing these things shows us that he can play. yeah it's going to take time to learn the college speed but he's going to make the difference in this w/r group.

Careful now...that "Christian School League" includes every private school in the state whether it be religious, prep, or militarty. If you know anything about Virginia High school football you would know that the privates are at least on the same level as AA. A D1 private state champion taking on a AA state champion would be a great game. During some years you can make the same claim against the AAA level.

Do you know anything about highschool football ?

LCA is one of the best teams in the private league year in and year out ...... and they would have had a hard time beating teams around here on a consistent basis.

I don't know anything about local high school football, but how could you possibly know that if they don't play them?

Actually, LCA played at Dan River this past year and scrimmaged against Staunton River the year before, a Class A school and an AA school respectively. In both cases, LCA destroyed them. Obviously, neither of those schools is the cream of the crop in their class but they are VHSL publics "around here". There are probably four or five private schools around the state that could do pretty well in the A or AA classes with LCA being one of them. I would also include St. Anne's-Belfield and Flint Hill in that.

Didnt they just change the rule in VA where a private school can play a public school. And if my sources are correct LCA is playing against Charlotte Christian next year and a couple public schools here in VA. But this is getting off topic. Patrick Kelly can play. We all know that but what was said on the other thread was that he was going to be in the Top 4 for the receivers. I just dont see that happening. Right now the top four going into fall with just counting the play of spring ball would be Summers, Eden, Garner and DeArmon. Counting Hayes as a RB of course.

Kelly is not a top four receiver yet.

They all play different position such as wide out or slot, but this is how i feel that they stack up.

Mike Brown
Summers
BJ hayes
Freddy Brown (only because he will be playing with an old team mate.
Eden
Garner
Kelly
Hamilton

I could be missing someone. I hope we redshirt Pat for his own good. We have a stable of WRs this year.

And on the PUBLIC vs PRIVATE football.

Yes there are private school teams teams in the entire state of VA that could beat several public schools. No question. But the leagues as a whole are not very good.
No lynchburg city schools will play at LCA in any sport, because of the "transfers" that the JV boys basket ball team has gotten here lately. Not a legit reason if you ask me, but it did not sit will with certain people.

and why do we keep throwing Mike Brown in at WR. He is the starting QB right now. Beecher will have to fight for that starting job, it wont be handed to him. To have a dual threat QB like Mike is something a lot of teams would love to have. Dont you guys think that he is the best choice for our starter? And F. Brown hasnt even showed up yet so how can we say he is going to be a starter?
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
