he was a JMU alum.

nothing but nice to me during my time here, and when I heard the news I had to log back in again. JMU has lost a great alum, and Liberty has lost a great professor. just wish I could have met the man.

I am writing as a friend of Jeff Taylor's widow, Mary Clare. She is so grateful and appreciative for all of your thoughts and prayers. Arrangements have not been made yet, but we are hoping that the services will be on Saturday at Heritage United Methodist Church on Leesville Road. As soon as plans are finalized I will post that info here.

Mary Clare was so honored to read about several of you wanting to start a scholarship for a student in Athletic Training. She was trying to decide what to do in lieu of flowers, and you helped her make a wise decision. She will be in touch with someone at LU Wednesday to make her wishes known and to see how to get this started. If any of you have any insights, suggestions or can help with that, please reply. If anyone has info please contact Mary Clare at 434-238-2885 or 434-582-1946.

Again, thank you for all of your prayers...keep them coming.

Definitely the saddest day on FlameFans since May 16th, 2007.

Couldnt believe it when I read it. Cant help but be reminded of the urgency of our call and mission, we never know when that day may come. But praise God he is with his maker singing praises. Never got to meet him, but you could tell from who he was on here that he was an all around great guy. God Bless Jeff, well miss you.

WSET had a story about Jeff on Good Morning Virginia today. They actually quoted a few Flame Fans who had posted here, and the pic they had of Jeff on TV was him wearing his red Quiz Bowl polo.

I live in West Tn and know Jeff's father quite well. Please keep him and Jeff's brother and sister in your prayers also. Lloyd , Jeffs Dad, called me yesterday to tell me about the accident and was quite broken up. In a way, Jeff was a hero to his dad, you could tell by the way he spoke of him and Jeffrey. I even have a ball and scorecard that Jeffrey signed for me and Lloyd brought back. It was always about how much he loved all of his kids, grandkids and step grandkids. He should be up there by now, so if you see a guy that looks lilke Santa, (he does the mall Santa thing at Christmas), give him a hug. He tries to be gruff, but he's gentle as a lamb, and a good guy. I got the chance to buy Jeff breakfast down here a year or so ago and we exchanged friendly emails about our differences in politics. Pray for the entire family that they might be able to endure. We're told we are able to handle everything sent our way and we're told his ways and throughts are higher than ours. This is a perfect example of that so there's really no need to try to understand, just try to endure and keep the precious memories alive.

I got a PM from cougaraid and if we could do something baseball related as well as something for an AT student (since FR loved baseball so much according to him), I think that would be really really cool

While none of us are promised another day, a tragedy like this is always shocking. I pray that God will comfort the Taylor family. I have been reminded of Romans 8:28 numerous times over the last week and it seems appropriate right now.

I wish I could hug his son right now.

GMTM called me last night and told me about this. i was moving all day and have not had my internet set up so im posting from panera. i am totally shocked and feel horribly for the family, especially jeff jr. fumbles was a great guy and i will always remember our "chats" on my dislike for VT, and his dislike of UVA. though i never had him as a prof, i heard nothing but great tthings and i know he will be missed. thanks fumbles for everything you gave to LU and to flamefans.com. my prayers go out to the entire family.

I haven't been here in a long time, and I am deeply saddened that it is on this occasion that I post now.

Jeff was a great guy, that is understandment. I truly will miss his friendly banter on things of politics and life in general. I am greatly saddened by this tragedy, but know that there are many of you out there that were closer to him and therefore are deeply hurting. My prayers go out to his friends, family and co-workers as I know that anyone who had met him was touched by him. I am encouraged by the possibility of a scholarship being offered on his behalf and would be honored to help in any way that I can...organizationally, or monetarily.

My deepest sympathies!

RIP Fumble.

I just read the news link on WSET and then thought it was strange that they should mention FF, so i checked out the forum - never dreamed it was an FF guy.

very sad.
