Did everyone enjoy the game? What did you think about captain choices?

There's already a thread on awards and captains.

Knowing who the quarterback was going to be really made it a lot better for them. The constant switching between Mike and Spencer throughout the spring made it tough to get in a rhythm. That wasn't a problem today.

But I think he is the type of guy that needs to have the ball in his hands every play just like you said. He is a playmaker.
Doncel being a Samkon winner this year just adds to the notion that this defense has the potential to be quite good. Solid linebackers, solid DB's, and the DL has the potenial to be very good, as well.
As for the offense... I am not all that impressed with Mike Brown's throwing. Everything else, yeah, I am a huge fan of. Especially his attitude about the game and his excitement and passion. I just don't like the dead-duck deep pass I saw twice today. Nor do I like the throwing behind a little pass to the flat. He didn't really make a throw that made me say "This guy is a solid QB". He made the plays as a runner at the QB position that will make him insanely dangerous. But I just don't trust him in a situation where he has to throw the ball. If we have a 3rd and 12, I just can't see Mike consistently making a throw in that situation to get us a first down.
However, I still think Mike should start, because really, the only way to get him ready to make the throws he needs to make is by getting in the game. The threat he poses by getting the ball on EVERY snap makes it worth a few bad throws. He is a dangerous athlete, and I have come to realize that getting him the ball on every play is a very good idea.

1. Mike Brown has the potential to really be a dangerous player next year. Needs to work on the passing accuracy (especially on the swing passes) but I think he can eat up a lot of yards with his feet.
2. Spencer Landis has a pretty good set of wheels himself. I saw a couple plays where he got 10-15 yards using just his legs. He really is the better passer of the two right now (course he has had a couple years playing behind Brock Smith as well)
3. I agree with FC about the running game. Really nobody showed themselves to be a game changer yesterday. Broggin has a chance to be one. Courtney Anderson had some flashes when he was in as well.
4. Kyle DeArmon could make his way into the WR rotation as he definitely had some very good plays as well.
5. Its already been said...Jamal Giddens is gonna be scary...I think he might break somebody in half next year.
6. Paul Young doinked an extra point off the same upright twice (and you could hear the PA announcer chuckle after the second one). I think Bevins could be our FG guy next year.
7. I think our defense could really turn some heads next year.

I felt bad for Paul though that must of stunk to be him

BJWilliams wrote:I mean that Mike is the kid of guy who could definitely be a major player in teh ground game. It will be interesting to see what Holloway does when he gets in and practices this summer but if we can gain a lot of ground with the QBs and RBs that could really add a new level or formidableness to the offenseI know. Just being stupid
