That would too choice to have them sent here to Texas. Of course I would be thrilled to have them anywhere.

TCU? I hope they don't house them in the... ummmm.... new dorms.

The TCU staff used to be at ECU.

But I seriously doubt that we would end up there. At this stage, these projections are nothing more than a fun way to pass the time.

You're right. It's basically just for conversation at this point. But I will say that it's likely Liberty will be viewed as a stronger 4 seed by the committee with an RPI around 120 and are likely to be sent to a non-national seed regional. If there is not a non-national seed regional within 350 miles then it's anybody's guess as to where the Flames will end up. In these projections, we elected to send West Virginia to the Charlottesville Regional because they have a little bit of a stronger resume and are also within 350 miles.

It would really help the Flames if Ohio State could get a host, sending West Virginia to Columbus and the Flames to Charlottesville.

Would we get a bid if Coastal gets the auto-bid?

I seriously doubt it. Losing to CSU and UNCA hurts...and then the two CAA losses last week probably means we have to win the tourney to get it. Then Coastal would get an at-large.

I hate to be the one to point this out and i'm sure its just a random mistake. or i could be wrong. but isn't Kennesaw State in a reclassifying period and therefore ineligible for the NCAA's?

You are correct. That was definitely an oversight on my part, and I appreciate you pointing that out. Kennesaw State, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, and USC Upstate are all ineligible this year.

Thanks again. It's fixed now.

What is the format for the Big South tournament? I know it's double elimination, but other than that I don't have a clue.

Teams 5-8 play single-elimination games on the opening day to pare the field to six.

Then it goes double-elimination from there, with the No. 1 seed getting the most favorable draw, opening against the lowest remaining seed then getting the loser of the 3-4 game if it wins its first game.

It's a true double-elimination tourney all the way through, so if one team reaches the championship game unbeaten and one has a loss, the team with the loss must win twice to eliminate the unbeaten team.

The crazy things is the possible brackets...if 5 teams are left after day two and the possibility that three teams are left going into Sunday.

Is it much of an advantage for being first as opposed to being 2nd?

Not really. Other than the first round matchup against the play-in winner's #2 pitcher, there really is NOT much of an advantage in that format. The ODAC uses the same format (it was the old NCAA D1 format back when there were 8 regions of 6 teams) and it has been at least 6 years since the top seed won. In the Big South...its just Coastal has been that much better (and DEEPER in pitching) the past two years and won as the top seed.

Personally, I like the format where each conference takes 8 teams and splits them into 2 pools. Pool A has the 1st, 8th, 4th, and 5th place teams, and Pool B has the 2nd, 7th, 3rd, and 6th place teams. You have a round-robin format, and the winners of each pool advance to the championship game. This means you play a maximum of 4 games, and you don't have to completely tax the pitching staff.

I think that might be a little over complicated for the BSC....one of the downfalls to having KK at the helm

I really would like that format though...pretty much like the WBC right?

DO remember that I think the last three years (or two I forget) LU and Coastal have faced off twice on the last day

Yes, it's similar to the WBC. The Big 12 and ACC are two conferences that I know have switched to it recently, and I think it will stick with both.

The Big 12 this year will play the pool games Tuesday-Friday, with each team either getting Thursday or Friday as an off day. The championship game will then be on Saturday. I like the schedule change because it allows the final game to actually be considered by the committee in seeding or hosting decisions, whereas in previous years when the final game was on Sunday it didn't really matter unless a team was actually playing for a bid.
