One, I thought this topic was about Zach Duke, and I was just wondering if anybody had heard any news on him.

Two, speaking of tight ends. We had some guy transfer in last year from VA Tech. I think his name was Culkin or something...he has to be good. V Tech transfers who come to LU usually get some playing time... anything about this guy?

What's your obsession with walk-ons? Your buddies in the dorm just trying to get you to come on here and talk about them?

I'd love to see the A-11...just to see how it's run properly. I'd bet it's against 15 football rules though.

The A-11 was technically completely legal but it was more akin to 3-card Monty than to football. Note the use of the word "was" as the A-11 was effectively banned at the high school level in February.

I didn't wanna say it... but yeah. Spence is the man but I think this influx of WR's shows that Mike is ready to take the reigns, or at least that he will be given every opportunity to.
I think Beecher will be our QB. I have said it before - he might not have excelled at USC, but it's USC and he didn't transfer down to sit his senior year. He would have went somewhere else. Brown will play WR or even RB IMO.

Huh? He was a WR at Byrnes HS and he was a WR at South Carolina. What makes you think he would -- or could, for that matter -- play running back?

That would be Brown. Mike Brown.

Gotcha. The prior South Carolina reference threw me off.

Still, the point stands. Mike Brown has never played running back either that I know of.

The only way Mike plays RB is if the staff is comfortable with what we have at QB and WR, but is totally dissatisfied with the other runners we have and just puts him there because he is a great athlete and can pretty much do anything you ask him to on the football field. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Zach had the biggest play of the spring game when he caught a pass and went 63 yards down to the 1 yard line. I think he might be somebody who could readily work into the WR rotation come the summer

Duke is good at catching the ball but he is way to slow. The only reason he had that play saturday is because the coverage wasn't there, it was a slant route. he def. won't start next fall he better hope hes on the team. we have a bunch of receivers in front of him.

You have to remember that was against the 3-defense and we had three WRs out on Saturday. Add to that the transfer WR we are bringing in and the returning guys who are better (Jimmy Eden, Chris Summers, Irvin Garner, Aaron Hewlett, Kyle DeArmon) and it's going to be tough to "readily work into the WR rotation."

I did note that (although I didnt put it in my OP). With all the guys coming in next year I do still think he has a chance. Really once training camp starts is when youll see who does make it in the 5-8 receivers who I think will see plays over the course of a game (that is factoring in situations where you have extremely one sided blowouts like we are expecting against a team like West Virginia Wesleyan and maybe NC Central)
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
