I wasnt going to say anything, but you did. I dont know that you have an axe to grind, but it was classless and ridiculous. Thats all Im going to say other than that we can talk when we see eachother (not a threat, just simply not going to talk trash online haha) I just disagree Mr. Lang.

Back to the topic. Best of Luck to Brolin we will miss you buddy, youre a good guy and we know it.

What I find fascinating in these "conversations" is that while most of us here will acknowledge both accomplishments and mistakes from our present and former coaches, CMII and inthebeginning seem to think that RD is the reincarnation of Red Auerbach. He never did anything wrong, and every loss suffered, every player who left, and in general ANYTHING bad that happened while he was coach was somebody elses fault. We even have an entire season which has been erased from the memory banks because it doesn't support the agenda.

RD brought us a championship in 2 years. He has been thanked over and over again for that. Overall, he had a losing record, and his last 2 recruiting classes produced essentially nothing. Can you say "Lamont Winters, Armon Jones, Nate Campbell and Ehimen Orupke"?

Well, I guess I might as well jump in too.

David Dees was a great player and i appreciate him for his time at Liberty. I hope he was happy with his decision and that every thing worked out well for him.

Bj Jenkin was awesome and I think he would have truly helped the team to greater success had he stayed. I also hope that his decision to leave has worked out to his advantage as he hoped it would.

Brolin Floyd is a tremendous talent and I truly wish he was still apart of the program because he would have been a major contributor for his entire career. His decision to leave is personal and i hope that he enjoys the greatest success wherever he chooses to go.

While Iwasn't his biggest fan I am greatful to RD for the time, effort, and dedication he put into his time at LU. Contrary to some people's belief, he did bring some success and history to the program. I wish him success in future coaching endeavors.

RK is here now and he's doing a great job. He has brought excitement and optimism back to the program and I wish him all the success in the world.

All of these men were part of the Liberty family and contributed to the overall success of the program. Give them the respect they deserve, the support they need, and let them do what they do. As far as I am concerned that should be the end of it.

1. I dont think of RD that way (and I know you didnt say me, just hold on) I just cant stand when its made out that McKay is the next Jesus. RD is gone. Its over. No need to put anything about the "old regime" in the paper or on the news and no reason to slander him.

2. If you want to ill list the good recruits of RD and why those kids left and the crap recruits of McKay.

It's Division I athletics. Former coaches are sometimes relevant to the issue at hand. I suppose Pete Gillen's name should never be mentioned again when folks talk about UVa.

i think the number of posters who think RM is the Jesus of coaching is smaller then the number of people that think RD never did anything wrong TBGBG...they both are far from the greatest coaches of all time...they both have their strengths and they both have their weaknesses...this whole issue is getting so old though...

holy crap...we agree!!??????????

I do agree that Anthony Smith should keep his opinions on RD to himself...but I do not think Chris was classless to report what Ant said to him...but yes, ant should have kept it to himself, and it shouldn't have been put in the media guide...that is getting awfully close to classless

anyways....it sucks brolin is leaving...how the frap has this thread spiraled so far out of control?

Chris would have been wrong if he didn't report it, that is his job, it was obviously a very important part of AS's experience at LU. Anyone regardless of which axe to grind, if they anything about BB, knows we are on a much better path than what we were in the past.

Some of us know more than we should, and it should stay that way, it does the school no good to publicize it further.

Finally, Chris has done a much better job of covering LU sports than anyone in the past. Yes, he is open to challenge/disagreement, but don't discredit him for doing his job just because you don't like the content of his reporting, especially when he was quoting a LU player, not making a personal observation.

Fire away.

Chris's job is to sell papers and cover the stories from this team, whether positive or negative. Chris's job is not to build up LU. It's not to tear down LU. It's to report what is going on and this was obviously what was going on.

Trouble in paradise up there?? Is the Kool-Aid souring??

You guys are funny.. First it's Tre Lee, now it's Brolin & Anthony Smith... What is this "As the Vines Grow"- you sound like a bunch of women (no offense intended ladies of the board!) with this internal cat fighting.. Past coaches - current coaches- blah blah blah..

NEWSFLASH: It's already happened, NONE of you control or make the decisions to produce change, plus you can't change the past, MOVE ON!!!

P.S. Your team is still playing basketball & finished 3rd in the league this year.. You would've thought this was the Winthrop board with all the whining going on...

You're a smart guy, you should figure out that the regulars who are behind this team aren't the ones taking cracks at the coaches, AD's, and journalists, and that those who are starting these stupid fights just do so because we are so easy to tick off.

The Kool-Aid isn't sour, we just won our first post-season game. I for one am excited about the team right now. I just wish we could enjoy it without these trolls coming by with their ridiculous crap.

SuperJon wrote:Dude, you're clinically insane. You want the truth? Here it is:

BJ Jenkins left because he was lied to in his recruiting process. He was told he could keep his dreads/braids and then was fined multiple times over his first semester for being out of hair code.

BJ Jenkins, on a recruiting trip, showed up at convo. He asked the coaching staff, "What is this?" Their response was that it was just something Liberty did occasionally. When BJ asked if he had to go to it they told him no he didn't.

BJ Jenkins wanted to have a "typical" college life.

BJ Jenkins didn't leave because of a current coach. BJ Jenkins didn't leave because of playing time. BJ Jenkins left because he hated Liberty and was not happy at all.

Brolin Floyd leaving is because of personal things. There are things going on in his life that take precedence over playing basketball. Those things in life happen. His leaving is completely, 100% non-basketball related. He's not being ran off. He's not leaving because of a coach. He has to take care of his life, and that's what he is choosing to do.

You say if RD was coach, Anthony would've been POY and not just pre-season POY. Apparently by that thinking, RD would've been able to control the fact that Anthony's daughter was born three months early and was in the hospital for a good majority of the season. RD would've been able to miraculously make that not happen. He would've miraculously been able to get Anthony to not worry about his infant daughter when she may have been struggling. The fact that he played as well as he did throughout the year with an infant daughter in the hospital is a credit to the character and integrity of Anthony Smith. To criticize a coach for him not winning POY, given the circumstances around it, is one of the most classless things I have ever read on this board.

You know what happened, from one side of the story, two years ago. You have no clue what's going on right now. You don't talk to players. You don't talk to coaches. You don't talk to administrators. You have taken the one side of the story you heard from a friend and took it as Gospel. You have not looked to see the other side of the story and then found the truth in the middle.

OK ringadingdingbat, clarify it for me. Why are you here???????????? Could it be because nobody seems to care enough about UNCA sports to have an active discussion board?

Sure, some of the discussions we have here get a little carried away, and there is absolutely no doubt that some things get dug up and recycled way to often. At least somebody cares.

My favorite show is Guiding Light: The Hippieville Tech Years in which several faculty members from UNC-A sit around attempting to have deep philosophical discussions but keep getting distracted by shiny things and by the complex movements of their own hands.

I think all of the faux-drama we have around here is like our modern day replacement for soap operas. It's pretty lame but we all come back for more of it.
