Might not have been the correct call, but didn't cost them the game.Never said it cost them the game, but it sure did make it much more difficult for them to win. If you are going to the line to shoot 2 with 5 seconds to go and down 1 is a whole lot easier to overcome than giving the other team the ball in the same situation.

There's no guarantee that they go on to win but it's probably 80-100 times more likely than what they had to try to do.And Carolina's chances would have increased with calling the goaltend.
SuperJon wrote:Tech had 24 seconds to score one point and didn't even get a shot up. Not one. I would've felt a lot worse for them if they had actually put a shot up to try and score before that. They had almost thrown it away once before. Who's to say they wouldn't have done it again if they called the foul? With the way they were playing, there's just a good of a chance they throw the ball away, miss the shot, or don't even get a shot as it is they make the shot to go up.What terrible logic...they were going to throw it away anyway, so there is no need to call the foul. The foul happened, should have been called, what they do after that is what happens...not what may have happened because they mismanaged the clock, or were going to throw it away.

SJ makes the point. VT lost the game. Plus, no one would have had any problems with the jump ball call if the possession arrow favored VT.
Being at work I haven't seen replays, but I'm hearing (from non-UNC fans) the overhead cam shows it was the correct call...that is was a typical jump ball kind of play.

You can't just walk into a triple team, bring the ball down to your chest, and hope you get fouled by someone. I criticize our boys too when they do stupid plays like that. Anyone who plays basketball knows that you can't get surrounded by taller defenders and just wait for the refs to bail you out.
