Great balance from RU. Parakhauski and Thomas with 62, all others combined 23.

Something is indeed wrong when a regulation college game takes more than 2 1/2 hours to play. Normally less than 2.

Coach McKay Postgame Comments

Starting off thanking fans and apologizing for how we played last time out.

Talking about the big change in fortunes since the VMI blowout:

"We looked at Hebrews chapter 12 and some of things we were taking for granted. I wanted us to represent Liberty they way it deserved and this week has been a really hard week for our family."

About Flames winning without Jesse at point:
"James Spencer played a great game. He humbled himself and I think he was excellent in his (Jesse's) place. We love Jesse but we have to have others come off the bench to win. Our bench was outstanding tonight."

About only 4th victory at Dedmon in 22 tries for LU:
"Very difficult place to play and they really get up for us. We had no answer for Parakhouski. But this proves to us there is no place we can't go in and win. I know we'll gain confidence from this one."

About big first half from Ohman:
"KO took a little pressure off of us. He maybe took one bad shot all night and he has that takeover ability. He's getting better and we as a team are getting better. I'm not going to lie to you, we had a hard week in practice. But we certainly played better tonight."

About watching to see whether we get G-W or Winthrop in 1st Round on Tuesday at the Vines Center:

"Whoever we get we have to worry about Liberty basketball and advancing our university and who we are representing.

When Jerry cracked that Ritchie would probably like to face the Highs once again in Dedmon for the title:

"Our desire would be to host the game at the Vines."

Who would have guessed the James Spencer would have been our secret weapon tonight?

39 minutes
8 points
7 rebounds
6 assists
0 turnovers

'Sounds like a decent impression of Jesse Sanders. :clapping

Where is the Coastal fan to tell us that we suck? I thought he would have posted by now since they beat Winthrop earlier today!

We needed this game in a big way going into the tournament for momentum's sake. I have seen quite a few games this year on MASN and that is the best performance I have seen from our bench. Baker, Weaver, and Floyd all played well. And we didn't fold down the stretch when it appeared that Radfurd had momentum after we built a big lead. Could have done without some of the fouls on their big man near the basket. Ohman shot the lights out in the first half and it seemed like Curry picked up a bit in the second and hold off any Radfurd comeback attempt.

Great performance. Our role players won that game. Tyler, Austin, Bill, James were all phenomenal. We don't win without them. Hopefully Johnny keeps his confidence headed into the tournament.

My favorite quote from the Radford board:
I'm a little concerned that with Sanders out it doens't look like Liberty has missed a beat.

 Looks like the Big South needs a new motto. All of our role players should get patches on their jersey that says "1%"

I disagree. I don't see UNCA or Winthrop or HPU knocking off that team.
I don't expect RU losing before next Saturday, but WU is playing VERY well right now. I'd expect them to beat UNCA, and the way they play defense and with their solid interior play- they should give RU all they can handle.

As I posted before, I thought that we needed only compete to set the stage for a positive BS run. All the better with this huge win. We have defeated the # 1 & # 2 teams on their home courts, the BS is wide open which is good for the # 3 seed, & I still believe that the Flames have the talent needed to win the whole kittin-kabootle.

Great job!!

There is no team going into the BS that figures they have it in their pocket, ad a few that cause worry for anyone they play, and the Flames are definitely in that select group.

WU is clearly playing better than they were, but 5 straight wins is a bit deceiving. 4 were at home and only the one over CCU today was by more than 5 points.

Oi, I just realized that the semis is on a Thursday. I hope we make it there, but that's annoying. Hopefully we can land the early game.

The 2-3 has been the early game every year that I can remember.

I forgot all about watching the game last night (hard to compete with Blazing Saddles). I'm going to have to go back and read the last 6-7 pages. Congratulations.

Excellent win last night, guys. Good luck vs. Gar-Webb. Had we not choked vs. PC, you all would have Winthrop coming to the Vines..........

Really?? So the LU win last night over a RU team that had no real motivation to win is all telling now?? We have played RU as well as anybody this year but ended up on the wrong side twice inclose games, including OT up there, so we're quite capable of taking the Highlanders out.. I will conceed I'm more concerned about WU than I am about a potential game at RU though.. Just not sure why you think RU & LU is so superior to UNCA though..
