So, our president gave Biden the choice of being Vice President or Secretary of State.
WASHINGTON – The wife of Vice President-elect Joe Biden let it slip to Oprah Winfrey Monday that her husband had a pick of two jobs in the Obama administration.

Jill Biden said President-elect Barack Obama gave Biden the choice of being secretary of state or vice president.
And appearently, much like Joe, Mrs. Biden can't keep her foot out of her mouth.
The vice president-elect tried to hush his wife as soon as the words came out of her mouth, with a loud "shhh!" that sent the audience into laughter.

He's living in WV...what else is there to do. He's lucky to have teeth and electricity, let alone a TV!

I hope this dude doesn't start a world war over the next 8 years by saying something stupid while he's overseas.

I still find it funny that George Allen got slammed so hard for the macaca comment while Biden gets away with his 7-eleven comment scott free.

The media is run by liberals so they look out for their own...when a conservative makes a mistake (like the "macaca" comment) the media becomes apoplectic and wants to basically crucify them a) because they are conservative and b) because they are Republican

Could you imagine Biden as Sec of State? Dealing face to face in the diplomacy game? The guy sleeps with his foot in his mouth (apparently his wife has a taste for it too). I'm glad he took the VP slot which basically does a little bit above nothing.

Or c) because George Allen was a complete a-hole to begin with.

What I think is the most amazing part is that Obama thought Joe Biden would provide a valuable service to his campaign. If that doesn't speak volumes about Obama's misguided judgment, I don't know what to say.

What I would like to know is when the overture was asked? Was it before he was put on the ticket at the DNC or after the election? If it was after, who would he have then named VP? Did he just pick Biden so that he had the "token white guy"?

The Biden campaign has since sent out a memo stating that she was exaggerating (this is a common Biden family trait). It will be interesting to see if this will be pursued for illegal activity. Promise of appointment is a crime.

18 U.S.C. Sec. 599 sets forth the following election crime:

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or
pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for
the appointment of any person to any public or private position or
employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one
year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined
under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

I remember living in the state and feeling a bit embarassed to be voting for an unabashed bully. If his private persona was in any way similar to his public one, I think I'd rather meet a methhead in a dark alley. At least the methhead wouldn't be smiling when he tried to "kick their soft teeth down their whiny throats".
