1) Bradford had a better game
2) Oklahoma lost this game, Florida didnt win it
3) I am still convinced the UF INT in the 2nd half hit the ground

Utah should be #1 IMO, followed by UF, then USC, Texas, OU.

And uh, oh yeah:
SEC > Big 12
AND
Everyone but Sunbelt, MAC, and C-USA > BigTen

Florida #1 in AP, Utah #2

The announcers are in with their man love of Tebow last night, but it has been that way all year. I see him coming back for his senior yr, regardless which year he will get drafted, it will not be as QB

That was an... interesting game. I think the best argument for a playoff system might have been watching the two "best" teams in America try to play a meaningful game after being off for 33 straight days. That was like watching a gang fight between two rival factions at Seymour's School for the Blind.

I didn't hate the announcers for this game any more than I usually hate the announcers for any game but Chris Myers -- or whoever was in Chris Myers' ear -- was a complete moron. Other than that, it seemed like the 4th-quarter was one long infomercial for the benefits of homeschooling as brought to you by St. Tim of Tebow.

This has as much to do with when the vote was taken as anything. It seems like forever since Utah destroyed the Tide while the Gators backed into the title last night by doing something UT did 3 months ago. What a mess.

and he'd be right. If you put any team up against USC right now, including UF and OU, they would lose by two TD's--not even mentioning Utah. USC would clear their bench by halftime.

I bet that's what Alabama thought.

Utah beat Oregon State. Utah beat Oregon State. Utah beat Oregon State. Utah beat Oregon State.

Edit: to be fair PSU did too.

IMHO Utah has by far the best case. They got hosed. I guess that makes up for their rivals in Provo getting a title they didn't deserve a quarter century ago.

USC may not have the best case, but they have the best team...they just dont play anyone...thats why the need to go independent

For sure! Way too much time off. Playoffs will take them right up to New Years for the championship. Can you imagine the excitement of a cinderella team getting hot late??? (like Utah!) It sure works for bball.

I chatted on Facebook with one of my friends who has a vote in the AP Poll. Here's his top 5:
  • 1. Utah
    2. Texas
    3. Florida
    4. USC
    5. Oklahoma
I told him I was surprised that more of his writer colleagues hadn't used Utah or USC as a protest vote. He replied to me that they were just a bunch of whining cowards.

the AP poll for the most part is idiocy. i read an article, probably on either yahoo or espn, a couple days after Utah won their bowl game. they interviewed some of the voters who has voted utah in the low top 10, all of the ones the interviewed said that had been the first time they had even see utah play before the bowl game.

Yeah it is not like that title is at all tainted or anything. I mean winning in your own crib is so overrated.

Yeah, I realize this is a little tardy. But even though Rick Reilly rarely is on target these days, he is dead on the money in this piece ...
ESPN the Magazine wrote:Oklahoma and Florida can battle for the BCS. But we've already crowned the true national champ.

The Utes trampled Alabama to complete a perfect season. How are they not national champions?

Some gifts people give are pointless: Styling mousse to Dick Vitale. An all-you-can-eat card to Kate Moss. The BCS Championship given to Oklahoma or Florida.

It means nothing because the BCS has no credibility. Florida? Oklahoma? Who cares? Utah is the national champion.

The End. Roll credits.

Argue with this, please. I beg you. Find me anybody else that went undefeated. Thirteen-and-zero. Beat four ranked teams. Went to the Deep South and seal-clubbed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. The same Alabama that was ranked No. 1 for five weeks. The same Alabama that went undefeated in the regular season. The same Alabama that Florida beat in order to get INTO the BCS Championship game in the first place.

Yeah, that's how it is now in the shameful, money-grubbing world of college football. If you're Florida and you beat Alabama, you get a seat in the title game. If you're Utah, you get a seat on your sofa.

Hypothetical scenario: If the rules that were written by the Big 12 were different than the current set and allowed the University of Texas to represent the Big 12 South in their championship game and they proceeded to win the Big 12 and win the BCS national championship game against the University of Florida, would Sly

A/ Declare the University of Texas as the outright champions of college football

B/ Declare Utah the champion of college football and Texas the winner of a flawed BCS system
