Before anything gets changed with the BCS, they need to revamp the bowl scheduling. I know the added bowl games bring in a ton of money but when there are games being played outside of BCS bowls up until the National Championship, it ruins any buildup it could have. There should be 5 games after New Years and that's it.

I hate the BCS. and i do believe the Gators are the best team in the country and if you understood the hatred between the SEC team of which I am a fan of, you would understand how much it pains me to say that. The SEC is the best conference out there. On any given day anyone in the SEC can beat anyone else because of the level of talent in the conference. The Big 12 is a close second but when it comes to the speed of the game and OVERALL not individual talent the SEC wins hands down.

I believe that Michael Crabtree is the most talented WR in the country and might even be the most talented NFL ready player in the country. and he's in the big 12. I think its a little unfair to set up these if texas played florida scenario's that game would be a toss up and you all know it. Colt mccoy and Tim Tebow are incredible Qb's. Individually in the skill positions i think the Big 12 can hang with the SEC but the big difference is in the DL and OL's. it boils down to overall team play and i think the SEC has an edge. just my two cents from a UGA fan.

Utah won 13 games by beating 3-9 Michigan, 5-7 UNLV, 3-9 Utah St., 8-5 Air Force, I-AA Weber St., 9-4 Oregon St., 4-8 Wyoming, 7-6 Colorado St., 4-8 New Mexico, 11-2 TCU, 6-6 San Diego St., 10-3 BYU, 12-2 Alabama. Six teams on that schedule went to bowl games. At the end of the season, four of those teams fired their coaching staff.

Florida won 13 games by beating 7-7 Hawaii, 7-6 Miami (FL), 5-7 Tennessee, 5-7 Arkansas, 8-5 LSU, 7-6 Kentucky, 10-3 Georgia, 7-6 Vanderbilt, 7-6 South Carolina, I-AA Citadel, 9-4 Florida St., 12-2 Alabama, 12-2 Okalahoma. Ten teams on that schedule went to bowl games. At the end of the season, only Tennessee fired their coaching staff.

Discounting the I-AA games, Utah's opponent were 82-69, primarily in the Mountain West. Florida's opponents were 96-61, primarily in the SEC.

The upshot is that despite the 1-point loss to Mississippi (9-4 and won the Cotton Bowl), Florida had an equal record against better competition.

Nice argument but you left out some factors. Where was that loss to Ole Miss? It is tough to ignore.

And while the SEC loads up its non-conference with cream puffs to get bowl eligible, the West Coast teams don't have that luxury due to higher travel costs. So the records aren't necessarily a fair comparison.

Of course they did face a common opponent in back-to-back contests. But that is quickly dismissed because of Florida's victory on home soil over an Oklahoma team by ten points. Wait ... why does that sound familiar?

Ole miss is not a bad team. they showed that by taking it to TTU in the cotton bowl. TTU showed it didn't deserve that #7 rank when they played texas down the last stretch of the season. and after getting torched by OU that loss to TTU looked pretty bad for texas. now in my defense i think Texas deserved a closer look at being in the title game but over all i think FLorida's in conference schedule made their case for them.

Despite the 1-point loss to Mississippi -- who went 9-4 and won the Cotton Bowl over Texas Tech -- Florida still had as many wins as Utah did. Additionally, Florida had just ended Alabama's bid for an undefeated season when Utah beat them.

Florida's SOS was ranked #11 and Texas was #16. Not much of a difference.

I quit making a case for UT at Phoenix. Utah and USC are apparently not title game worthy because they don't play in a league that adds a ridiculous conference championship game. At least that's what I get from this thread.

A team from a conference with a championship game has won the last four national championships. Doesn't seem so ridiculous now, does it?

This system is set up to have teams from conference championship games get first crack. USC bucked the trend for a few years but they were burnt by the system in '09.

Why would anyone declare for the NFL Draft this year, anyway? I wouldn't want to spend the next few years of my life living in Detroit.

How wearing eyeblack on a football field violating separation of church and state? What "church" is infringing upon what state entity in this case?
