I hate this thread.

<==== doesn't grasp concepts.

I just need someone to tell me how to set up an antennae to get over the air digital broadcasts.

and for you DISH dorks, I'd like to mention that I've looked into switching roughly 3 times, BUT- I cannot get the same channel line up that I currently have on DirectTV. Not even comparable. The only way to get all the channels I have now (with a medium-tier package, I might add) would be to buy the top level DISH package- costing me too mucho denero.

result: NO. :nono

I did some more checking on the PALM Pre...really they just made a blackberry that's better then any of the ones on sprint...its very comparable to the storm....really I dont see any need to switch b/c I love my current blackberry and wouldnt mind to see what else PALM and RIM are going to release on Sprint...not to mention there is a Samsung Android on the horizon which I'm sure I'll try.

dish was the better option for me. on the top 200 pakcages i got all the espn channels (except espnu), a bagillion sports alternative/fox sports channels, history, discovery, IFC, tbs, tnt, locals, animal planet, cstv, golf channel, nfl network. i could espnU if i went up a package (which is 10 a month and not really worth it for an entire year...) and there are a few more channels I could get if I upgraded but I don't watch non sports programming enough to warrant paying that much more, but another thing I really dislike about directv is that directv tuners can only be used on one tv while dish tuners can be used on two tvs, which for my household cut the cost drastically...

Leasing a second receiver is only $5.99 a month for DTv. Or, you could just run a splitter to your second TV. It's not that hard to get around.

Wouldn't both of those TVs be showing the same channel?

nope. they are dual tuners, so you can watch a different thing on two different TVs connected to the same box. we do it all the time with the box my tv is connected to.

we have five TVs: basement, kitchen/dining room, living room, and two bedrooms. we have one of the connections split to the basement one because its not used enough to warrant paying for another receiver just for that tv. if we had directv, we'd have to get 4-5 tuners to get the same kind of experience, with dish we have two. plus the package is cheaper than the equivalent on directv.

No I have Dish. I know about their magic 2 TV box. I'm talking about TDD's splitting idea.

oh ok, i didn't know which one you were referring to, my bad. yeah his idea would show the same channel unless he was really crafty and was able to change the firmware and stuff on his receiver...

You guys need U-verse. I can record four channels simultaneously on one DVR and play back anywhere else in house.

AT&T U-verse. It is not available in Lynchburg yet. But the technology is changing ridiculously fast.

I don't dwell with the Rustburg mountain-folk. I reside with the almost-in-New-London Evington commuters.

We'll get Comcast Fios instead of this U-verse. But that is still 75+ years away from us.

That would actually be Verizon FIOS. But by the time they lay fiber nobody knows who will own the lines. It changes regularly here in Texas. My dad is waiting for Verizon to drop fiber at his place and he lives two blocks off a freeway. So there is no rhyme or rhythm to their thinking.

there always seems to be a lawsuit involving comcast. I think Lynchburg just decides that it's cable company shuold be some comapny always getting into legal and litigation trouble.

Shoot, that's what I meant. I was trying to come up with a competitor for AT&T and I came up with Comcast. :doh

Down here AT&T and Comcast don't really compete. The latter just slowly loses all of its customers to the former.
