We should be excited but we need to keep our expectations under control.
We have an extremely bright future but remember, we're still losing these games. We haven't won them yet. We still have a tough conference schedule to go through and nothing is guaranteed. Predicting a run in the NCAA tournament or what seed we could get or making a run through the NIT is completely unfounded at this point in time. While UVA was a great win, look at how bad they are this year. Their only wins are over VMI, Radford, USF, and Longwood. It's a great recruiting tool and something to be proud of, but it doesn't hold the same weight as if we would've beat Clemson, and really doesn't even hold the weight of the GMU win. It took two OTs to beat a 3-6 William & Mary squad.
I point all of this out not to say we aren't good but to remember that while we have a chance to be special, we haven't gotten there yet. We've still got some growing pains to do but this is still the most exciting team I've seen since I've been at Liberty.
This team reminds me a lot of the football team in 06. A ton of really young talent that is still learning how to win and put games away. Once they grow up a little bit they'll start winning these close games on the road and will start putting away teams at home instead of going to OT and coming down to the last minute.
