We have discussed this many times before and it makes way too much sense. But there is starting to be more buzz outside of Lynchburg about making this happen ....
WildcatsPride.com wrote:Rumor Mill: Davidson vs Liberty Bracket Buster?

Word is beginning to spread about a possible Davidson vs. Liberty matchup in this season’s Bracket Buster game.

That’s right, Curry vs. Curry
THis is the only new interesting tidbit ...
The success has brought about whispers of the two teams meeting for Bracket Busters. Both Curry brothers have hinted that they are trying to get this done.

If this game does happen, how will super-fan parents Dell and Sonya Curry cheer for their boys?

Dell says they will show up in shirts that say “Daviberty Flame-cats” on the front and “Curry” on the back with the number 30

I know this would be great PR for our program, but I'm kindof agreeing with RTF (scary thought) on this one. Getting tired of hearing about Stephen, Davidson and the brother thing, and wish we could start just focusing on OUR Curry, who is just one (very good  ) player on OUR team.

But if Seth goes out there on a night like that and goes off on him, then we will hear more about Seth!

I wonder how much of this is rumor because we keep talking about it. I'm sure the Davidson board talks about it too. Other than that it just seems fairly obvious to everyone.

Welcome to today's sports media. Find a story and harp on it until everyone would rather shoot themselves than hear about it again. Do you remember when Manning vs Manning was the opening game of the NFL season? We had to hear about it for an entire summer.

I say bring it on. I agree that it can be frustrating and tiresome to hear the constant comparisons, but I'm glad the comparison includes a Liberty Flame. Seth is a very special player, but we realize that he is not the only talented player on this team. This unpaid PR campaign is the best thing to ever happen to the basketball program. I am sure that Coach McKay will use it to the team's advantage. Keep in mind the benefit the staff has when talking to a recruit. Doors will open to recruits that will propel the program to new heights. The time will come (Stephen's move to the NBA) and the focus will shift to Seth and the Liberty team, but this year and possibly next year will be the launching pad for that notoriety.

Exactly. How many other mid majors are getting as much press as us right now? I am thankful for every mention of LU on ESPN. It only means greater chances at better recruits in the future.

I think Seth's gonna be great- but I really think that Stephen would set the bar in this potential match-up.. they're both very talented guards, but Stephen has so many more games under his belt & has demonstrated repeatedly that he loves the spotlight- Seth just hasn't done that yet (no disrepect intended) on this type of scene-

Maybe you'd like to see Seth be the man, but then wouldn't folks compare it to the Venus/Serena Williams head-to-head dynamic that Big Brother just let Little Brother succeed.. I dunno

I'd watch that game though, which is all ESPN cares about as a soap opera sports outlet- besides there are still some better team head-to-head matchups out there for Davidson..

and no truer words have been spoken than this. I love watching ESPN but they are destroying sports media by manipulating a lot of stuff...

I just dont think experience matters to brothers, they've been playing each other their entire lives.

Seth will show he likes the spot light...one instance that stands out to me is when he hit the game clincher at UVA and had his arms out like a bird swooping low to the floor...he's young, he'll embrace it in a few years.

I don't think you'll find anyone on here that lists Seth as a better play than Stephen right now. However, with the lack of high profile coverage over the past few years, a Liberty/Davidson prime time game would be euphoria for us.

I hear that, but on TV with the anticipated hype that's different from just local/MASN coverage, etc.. I wasn't aware that you guys have had any other ESPN games this year since Asheville (no I'm not going there- just saying)- as you touched on it I would also think that all those battles at home, in the driveway or wherever they occurred would factor in.. Mom & Dad aren't there to referee the end of the game as I've read & if the brothers' dynamic is anything like mine- my younger brother never figured out that he was better than me in head to head competition- I imagine Stephen has that psychological edge on top of the experience- regardless this isn't a one on one matchup, even though people see it that way for some reason (again, ESPN BS hype & our tendencies to like subplots)- I don't think they would guard each other as, correct me if I am mistaken but, Seth's not your defensive stopper & y'all would probably play zone anyway.. Just don't do the Jimmy Patsos thing & double him all game long!!

I'm not sure if I would go so far as to think that experience doesn't matter though.. if you believe that then you'd also have me believe that Stephen isn't any better now than when he had only played 10 college games... I'm just not buying that!

Again, it would be fun to watch- but the aim of Bracketbusters was supposed to be great mid-major matchups in teams battling it out- realistically there are better games out there right now involving Davidson..

it boils down to the almighty dollar. Davidson is in b/c people are so attracted to curry. It's going to be tough to find any other team that will intrigue the AVERAGE fan enough to watch more then a brother battling him. Can you imagine what they'd say on SC, PTI, ATH and other shows gearing up for this match?

I think we have like 15-20 more games before our bracketbuster. Alot can change between now and then.

I agree with everything except the highlighted part above... Let's not forget that although Stephen is part of it (a BIG part!)- Davidson is nationally ranked at AP #22 & is the #2 mid-major program in America.. I think Davidson's in because they are GOOD & deserve it!!

Otherwise I fully understand all the hype, ESPN, PTI- we had all that hype, media, & attention last year with Kenny George AND because we had a very good team last year.. I certainly understand what you guys are going through!! Heck it's why we've been on TV so much this year- it's certainly not because as a team we've deserved all that attention..

Yes but there are #21 better teams yet none of them would attract the audience that Davidson would except your Duke, UNC's etc and they arent up for the bracketbuster

I know what your saying though, they are good and deserve it, but lets not act like Curry isnt the reason

From ESPN.
A total of 102 teams that will take part in the 2009 event have been preassigned to home or visiting roles, as announced Thursday. The 13 televised pairings will be announced on Feb. 2. The network (on ESPN, ESPNU or broadband service ESPN360.com) and the game times will be announced on Feb. 9.

Do we know if we've been assigned a home or away status for this year?
