Tell me who you think's going to transfer and give me a legit reason why they would.
haha, I don't think anybody is going to transfer. I'm just saying it might happen. I didn't think BJ would transfer, but he did.

But just pure speculation would cause me to think that the most likely person to transfer would be Austin. He is not getting a lot of playing time and if Coach McKay decides to play him against Anderson and burn his redshirt, then I could see him transferring to a school that will give him the playing time he deserves and wants. Now if McKay starts to use him more, or redshirts him, then he will not transfer.

Another thing I notice is that Bill Weaver and Johnny Stephene are not getting very much playing time. Steph is getting more than Bill, but he still isn't getting a lot. I think Steph could start at most Big South schools. Bill is great coming off the bench for us. But since we just signed Tre Lee, I don't see Bill going anywhere. And if he does transfer I doubt Tre would still come here.

So with that being said, if there are any guys on the team I could see transferring, they are Austin Smith, Bill Weaver, and Johnny Stephene. I hope all three will stay and I think they will. We need them. The depth that we have this year is unheard of here at Liberty. But I think with a group of 7 guys that will all graduate at the same time, we will likely lose one or two of them. And when a walk on, James Spencer, is getting just as much playing time than Austin and Steph, it may just lead them to want to transfer.

Like I said, if Austin redshirts then I think he will not transfer. And I hope that Stephene will get more playing time during the conference games and will not make the decision to transfer.

Anyways that is just pure speculation and I think Coach will keep his recruits here. The problem is when you recruit so much talent, you don't have any "scrubs" sitting the bench and hoping for a blow out so they get clean up time. Every player on our roster right now deserves a good amount of playing time, but there are not enough minutes in the game to give all of them the playing time they deserve.

No need to defend yourself.....just say you were trying to start a fight

Wasn't that the truth. That was a team that was clicking on all cyllinders when he became eligible and the bottom just fell out.

It appeared as if SJ was wrong about something a few posts ago, but he came on here and let everyone know that he was joking and just trying to start a fight...so whenever your wrong or incorrect you were simply trying to start a fight b/c you were bored

the most likely person to transfer would be Austin.
Did you read the article about him in the school paper? He seemed pretty happy to be here and loves Coach McKay.

I'm sure he's happy here. And I'm not saying he is going to transfer. I never said I think these kids will transfer. I only said that if one or two of them transfers, then I think it will be one of those three I mentioned. Based on playing time, I could see Austin and Stephene wanting to leave to get more playing time at another school. I don't think it will happen though.

Honestly now that I think about it, Stephene is probably the most likely one to transfer. But I hope he stays. I really like his ability to get to the basket.

C'mon guys, Stephene's not transferring. He's a valued component to our backcourt.

If ya wanna start speculation about transfers, then at least make it more interesting. For instance, rumor has it that Byron Faison over at Winthrop may not be the happiest of campers.

I was just saying that IF anyone was to leave, he seems like the most likely one to leave. I hope he stays. I like BJ Jenkins a lot and I wish he would not have transferred. I hope we keep all our guys this year, and I think we will.

As for the kid from Winthrop, that's all fine and dandy, but he will probably end up at another Big South school. So other than making Winthrop even more terrible, it doesn't affect us.

Had BJ stayed, is it safe to say that he would have been riding our bench this year?

The guys that we have now are comfortable in their roles and believe in what McKay is doing. We're not used to seeing this kind of quality backcourt depth, but the good teams usually have this.

Johnny was the unsung hero in the UVA win. He hit a clutch 3, and had 4 assists. My understanding is that he loves playing in the backcourt with Jesse and Seth, and loves playing for Coach McKay. As long as he hits the books, he'll be ok.

There is no way he would be riding the bench. I think he would start over Kyle or Jesse, but he would atleast be coming off the bench. I think the main reason he transferred is because he knew he would see a dramatic reduction in his minutes.

I see him being 3rd on a list of Jesse, Kyle and BJ

Kyle is putting up crazy numbers that VERY few people would out do and Jesse is the heart right now pumping out the blood to the other parts of the body

Super, I think I've stumbled onto a question that may stir up some discussion:

How much playing time would BJ have gotten, had he stayed with our team?

I honestly don't know. I think going into the season he would've started but that may have changed as the season progressed. I think he would be seeing a lot of the minutes that Johnny and Bill are seeing right now.

It will be tough to hold everyone unless these guys are all high character guys that genuinely love playing together. It's almost impossible to predict that with these guys. Some of our instances in the past have been more predictable like dwight and so forth.
-I realize it's the "supposed" norm today in college bball, but I dont believe that to be the case in mid majors. You dont deal with early NBA entrants and you have more character guys who fit around a star or two on teams.

I noticed early on that Stephene is lightning quick with the ball. His jumper looks better the last couple games than it did early in the season. One thing that has scared me so far is Anthony's free throw shooting. We've played several close games already and undoubtedly will in the future. 60% is pretty rough and it's causing me to have some flashbacks from the past couple of years, namely the winthrop road game 2 years ago I believe.

-Do you guys see Austin contributing a lot this year? Personally, I dont see him helping much this year, he commits dumb fouls immediately and has not developed at the offensive end (like many big men at his age).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...as a coach you're making your living off 18-21 year olds....good luck!

Who knows what they'll do
