When Liberty University basketball coach Ritchie McKay came to Bethel's open gym a couple of months ago, it was to check out an intriguing prospect named Ovie Soko. But he also came away liking another prospect: 6-foot-4 swingman Tre Lee.

with this quote...
"When I first went up there, I was going up to view my options," Lee said. "But the campus was really nice. They've invested a lot of money in the campus, and not only do they have a good basketball program, their academic standards are really high. You won't leave there empty-handed."

That writer lost some credibility points in my book with that comment. LU is great, but it does not have higher standards.

Did you even read the article? It wasn't from the author, it was a direct quote from Lee.

I have to agree with Lee on this one. Liberty has its fair share of high end students now. Just look at our law school bar acceptance rate, our Honors Program, our Graduate School, our Debate and Quiz Bowl teams, and some of our newer majors--aviation, engineering, & biochemistry. Many of our high end academic students are now choosing us over UVa.

Maybe Lee just mean we have a coach now that keeps students to an academic standard.. :P

Can of worms, now open.

I don't think the last administration would disagree with that comment:)

OK - writer is good. You guys are right. I was just stirring up trouble. And I'm sure things have changed. When I went - classes were very easy.

Bethel High is the #2 ranked team in the state. I hope they make the state final 4 which is played at VCU so I could get to watch them play. This team is loaded with talent though, their pg has committed to UVA, Lee who has committed to us, and Ovie Soko who is another D1 talent.

I just realized that a link which was posted by Zackthomas in the thread he inadvertantly started about Tre a little while back has some updated info from an ESPN evaluator. The guy seems to think he has made some significant improvements in his game. It also says that Tre had comitted to St. Louis and opted out to come to LU.

Because of his strength and size, Liberty should be able to play him at either wing position.
Ha, they obviously don't know how we play

In the ESPN article just above. It says he previously committed to St Louis, but switched to LU. ODU, VCU, Richmond, George Mason all offered as well.

I met Tre and Ovi this weekend. We had a blast arguing about today's players in the NBA vs way back in the 80's lol! It should have been taped because it was quite a conversation. Their coach and me took the old 80's guys and they took today's players. Fun.

So SCAR, by any chance did Ovie drop a hint as to where he is planning to matriculate this Fall?

I doubt Scar can say anything like that on here.
