I think a major difference fo LU in 09 will be that the players will be targeting the PC game...oh I'm sure the coaching staff will be talking about the date as an important conference game, but the players will be looking at it as a "revenge" game. Emotions will be very, very high and since it is homecoming the emotions and importance of the game will be magnified. I don't think PC will be overlooked this time. In terms of this years loss....congratulations to PC on a huge win. We know it was a huge win because it is still all they talk about. That win absolutely MADE PC's season....iif they truly didn't think LU was that good then why do they constantly come on flamesfans and talk about the win. Don't play both sides of the fence guys! Take pride in that win. You beat a VERY good Liberty team. The PC loss was the major reason LU didn't make the playoffs (not the only reason) ...and all the playoff people talk about is Liberty's "bad" loss. (That would be PC) Apparently LU was suppossed to win that game or it wouldn't be called a "bad" loss

I came over here to talk about it for two reasons:

1. somebody started a thread stating that Liberty should schedule PC for homecoming; traditionally a game you should win easily......I took objection to that

2. with only 8 teams still playing, there is not much else to talk about......this time of year is the purgatory of FCS football

Well, here are our possibilities for homecoming: JMU, Coastal, Presby. Presby is the most like W there especially considering this year's outcome.

JMU will be a huge promotion and possibly a record crowd...
...Coastal will bring about the "Beat Coastal" theme...with a large student contingent.

Presby would be the RIGHT choice, in my opinion.

I say Presby should be homecoming. Can't wait to see the boys get revenge. How does that jive with "Vengence is mine sayith the Lord"?

If we hadn't banned God from the board, I think He would tell you that He's perfectly all right with your sentiment. I suspect that He likes us better than the Hosers anyway.

Interesting debate...who does God like better? Flamers or Hoes? :P

you bring up, perhaps inadvertantly, a deep theological issue. I think God likes hoes as much as he likes flamers (and hose and flames for that matter)

I guess we'll see you for homecoming next year....

its simple, really.

The hose are predestined to heaven. No relationship, no love, simply predestined. Flamers are shown grace, which shows his compassion and love. Out of those two, Love is clearly shown more to the one side than the other or in other words, God is a Liberty Fan.

I've got no problem with that choice. Homecoming games are generally scheduled for the easiest victory on the schedule, right?

Are the Hose really even worthy of such a big event? I think not

That is a good choice. Anytime we can beat Coastal is well worth it.

I agree with Kilts that it misrepresents reformed theology.

Yeah, even though I am generally a dispensationalist I have to agree that being a little over the top ion simplification. But I appreciate the attempt at humor nonetheless.

I went to Trinity Christian College for a year, which is reformed, and teaches that theology. Hardcore Pre-destinationalists basically believe this, and when you look at them its easy to see. Its why I wanted to leave that school. They genuinely believe they are predestined to Heaven and so it doesnt matter how they live their Life, because God wont change his mind. Shallow theology or not, thats in essence what Hyper-Calvinists believe and live.

I know it misrepresents reformed theology, but its still is a forbearing presence on my view of Christ Reformed Churches, though im not ignorant enough to say all reformers believe this. It would be the equivalent of saying that because people at Bob Jones live in a way that says you are saved by works, all Christians believe this.

Well...BOO ON THE SHALLOW UNDERSTANDING OF REFORMED THEOLOGY AMONG STUDENTS AND FACULTY AT TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, AND BOO THAT IT HAS BEEN IMPARTED TO YOU. BOO.

[Regardless, love and predestination can't be separated. Just sayin'.]
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
