I am not necessarily against coaches who go off on their players if it is something that comes naturally for them, is part of their coaching style, and thus is expected by the players. I just don't believe in trying to fit round pegs into square holes. There are very effective coaches at all levels of the emotional spectrum.

Maybe he becomes the Dr. Spock of basketball and can help in Durham, Chapel Hill and Lawrence when they go postal?
very rarely does someone go postal in durham. i only saw k get fired a few times last year, mostly during time outs[/quote]

Coach K is widely known for having one of the most foul, abusive mouths in the game on the sideline. They these guys are making their living with limited job security(especially with an AD like JB) coaching 17-22 yr olds. Not an easy gig.

Which is why if you and your posse are are gonna whine for years after you're not re-signed you probably shouldn't be in this profession.

also, everybody here needs to take a quick refresher on how to use the quote function. You hit quote, and then don't touch any of the stuff in the box that's already there.

having a dirty mouth does not equal going postal. there is a huge difference.

coach k has a lifetime contract, so he doesn't have to worry about job security.

going postal is more easily equated to bobby knight and some of his escapades

question: If coach K gets into an accident and is in a coma for 2 years, he is still technically alive, so is he still the coach?

Just because he has an opinion doesn't mean he is a posse. Again I and numerous others feel the same way and it has NOTHING to do with whining!

There's a difference between what you're talking about and what goes on here after every loss.

Honestly, if I was so close to a coach that I rooted for the program to fail after he was fired, I would do so in my house and not annoy a bunch of fans on the internet and detract every conversation to the same point. I can't see myself having a "if I can't enjoy it anymore, nobody can" mentality. I certainly wouldn't create a new username every couple of months and pretend I'm from places that I'm not just to sound like a legitimate and unbiased source. Not only would I be a giant loser, but I'd be making the coach I'm so in love with look like a giant loser as well.

Strike two.....I personally do not wish for the programs not to succeed, rather like with this President's election...I did not vote for Obama and disagree with many of his positions however I am willing to support the position. However I will express my opinion when policies are adopted that I know are damaging to the fabric of our country. So if there is legitimate success beyond what others were not retained for then they will be applauded. I am just one that doesn't not believe 4th is better than 1,2 or 3rd.

Being from Austin has nothing to do with my login and certainly my opinions are no more a reflection on who I support than some my opinions a reflection on a Presidential nominee.

You are the one calling people whiners and now losers. I have opinions on the handling of our athletics and the performance of our teams.

But let's all get our blinders on and enthusiastically head forward, maybe that will cause a refrain from name calling.

Let's change the dynamics, "Hey did you see how well we played at UNCA on national tv, Oh yeah we lost but everything is moving forward! New leadership, ad and president...the world is at peace!"

Now now. Be careful. The Internet tells a lot about you that you may not be aware of. I'll give you a chance to clarify what affiliation it is that you're claiming with Austin before I say more, but you'll want to be honest.

Oh, and <a href="http://www.rpi.edu/~markhn/sounds/drnickhi.wav">hi everybody</a>!

Being from somewhere certainly doesn't equate to being there. I am sure many of us are not where we are from.

And I'm sure that some of us are (at least sometimes) posting from the same location. Ahem.

That's fine, though. I thought that's probably what was being said and that's why I gave an opportunity to clarify.

I've been toying with him kinda hinting that I knew but he just kept on with it.

I hope your return is triumphant and not a sign that you lost your job or something.

I'm sorry - this is just a pet peeve of mine. I just hate it when people invoke the "I and numerous others" comment. Just speaking from a church perspective, when someone says "I and numerous others," it normally equates to themselves and their best friend.

When I was at WLBC there was a guy that spoke to against a motion who said, "I and numerous others" are against this...

The motion ended up passing about 118 to 3.

So I've learned to take with a grain of salt anything people say when they add the fantasy "I and numerous others", if I haven't heard it from numerous others.

Thank you, and no. I'm still employed. I just got some solid clarification on my participation here. It will still be limited, but I'll be here sometimes.
