You have to admit, the track record isn't the best. Big plans, then things get FUBAR.

For the Ops Center, you see the pix--there is NO WAY it all can be done by the season, so why not get the most important things out of the way--those that the players need. Get the upstairs and basement shells done, but finish the main floor locker room.

The locker room, indoor practice basement floor and the offices are the priority right now for completition.

Football is planning on using the locker room during preseason camp and the offices are need so that the much needed office space for the expanding sports department can be opened.

The plan was/is that by the beginning of August, football would move to their new offices in the ops, while Jeff Barber, Mickey Guridy, Meredith Hollyfield, Kris Sennett and Media Relations take over their offices. They will also be joined by Kevin Keys and Bob Good who currently are in the Vines.

Academics will take over the Media Relations Offices. Women's Soccer and Golf will be brought to Hancock and wrestling will get their own office on that side of the building also.

I've detailed this before -- in this very theory thread, I think -- but you're right. There's no physical way that the entire building will be finished by season. Right now, we're concentrating on getting the essential areas taken care of first, specifically the locker room and meeting areas. If those are done by 8/31, we're OK. Coaches' offices and admin areas follow that. The weight room will be the last interior area completed because it's the least pressing of our needs (not because their $ got cut). The final exterior landscaping and parking will probably not be finished until very late in the season, if not later than that.

Mostly, yes. PM me prior to that weekend and I'll see if I can set something up. Only $10 a head. Of course, all proceeds go to a good cause.

And by good cause I mean my eBay addiction.

Primer going on the 1st-floor and upper-exterior walls now. Significant brickwork added to the front of the building. I would add pictures but my camera doesn't respond well to paint particles hanging in the air. Hopefully, I'll have some later in the week.

Nice to see that some work is being done. I was under the impression that things were at a standstill. Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Progress is being made. Does anyone know if the Ops Center can be expanded in the future if needed. I would assume so - but I am interested if anyone has heard anything about long term plans for the facility...

thanks for the pix- I hope, even with the time constraints, that the quality is maintained and that they don't "rush" the job.

I'm over here on the mountain this week doing some graduate work. Let me just say for those who aren't in the 'burg... Pictures don't come close to doing the Ops Center justice. The building is massive compared to what I perceived via the pictures. I am very impressed.

I told a friend today "Liberty is now looking like a D-1 University" The addition of the Erricson Property, TRBC, new dorms, etc. all make this place look great.

The turf still looks like the parking lot behind David's place.

That is fantastic! I highly doubt I can pull it off with my crazy work schedules, but I'd love to make it to homecoming and see the finished product for myself.

Thanks for the pics, bigsmooth.

There is a small army of guys working over there. I spend most of my time over there staying out of their way and learning enough Spanish to qualify for a job w/ Telemundo.
