Thanks, Cat. Liberty was also quick to put that information on their website:

These two things make absolutely no sense whatsoever. They put the likes of Gonzaga, Davidson, St. Mary's, etc. in their preseason poll yet none of their players are preseason all-americans? How does that work, how can you say Davidson and St. Mary's are 2 and 3 in the preseason poll yet leave their best player off the list - both of which are are just downright nasty good?

In the case of Curry, IMHO this is a show of respect to him. Although Davidson is still considered a mid-major program because they play in the SC, he is considered a full-fledged all-american (first team on many lists), and thus the opportunity for mid-major all-american honors can be open for other players (like Smitty).

And rightfully so. Based upon his showing last season, Curry is one of the top-10 players in the country, IMO, and should be recognized as such.

I like the way they do it. I also like how a panel of coaches and NBA scouts figure that 4 of the top 16 players in the country are from "mid-major" schools. It helps our schools in recruiting. We can tell guys "Play well anywhere and you'll get national recognition."

So far, I don't think I've seen a single All-American list that didn't list Steph on the first team. Why should that matter to Liberty fans? How about this quotation from the October 13 Sporting News---"Stephen's younger brother, Seth, signed to play at Liberty this season. Seth is 6-3, 180 pounds and averaged 22.3 points as a senior at Charlotte Christian. Stephen says Seth is physically gifted, deceptive and can get off a shot whenever he wants. 'I rarely tell people this,' Stephen says, 'but he's got the potential to be better than me.'" I know you guys are reluctant to over-hype Seth, and those are largely the words of a loving, older brother, but I've seen Seth play and he's going to be very good. I hope he finds his name on the all-American lists one day.

Well if that's the case then that makes sense then. I think they should have made a note on there that all-americans on the overall D1 list are automatically "disqualified" from the mid-major list though.
