I think you can ask any of the guys and they'll tell you they look to the stands to get pumped up and excited to play. That was a stupid comment.

Honey, if our guys are excited by a bunch of horses in drag then we've got bigger problems than just the other team.

It's a family affair. His mom posted on here earlier too.

i agree with fumblerooskies here...this program has come a long way that we need to even have a debate about what the fans are wearing to games...i love the energy and the reasoning behind what superjon is saying BUT if students want to come and be supportive and stay the entire game let em wear whatever they want. this is still a relatively young program without a whole lot of tradition, but tradition is not designed by clubs in meetings or over administrative discussions or announcements in convo. most of what is considered the "pagentry" of college football is from the fans, developed over years collectively choosing to celebrate the gameday experience and root on their team.
also bringing up the fact that they were drinking is not much more than a smear tactic, it is against the school rules but has absolutely nothing to do with the matter at hand of this groups attire. if you want to rat them out just go ahead and do it but bringing it up on a messageboard where it can take on a life of its own and facts can quickly be distorted is not going to do much more than land some people in sticky situations where the deans are asking for names and peoples futures are up in the air.

I dunno, the more I think about this, the more I see no room for the LUnatics to talk.

White out Winthrop, something that the AD's paid money and yelled about all week, and we switched to red at halftime...

and I am pretty sure that the white shirt red tie game a lot of you wore red...

plus, aren't we, as the LUnatics, about being different enough to get people interested, excited, and into the game?

I don't think this Southern Style is for everyone, but there are people who will be more into LU Football simply because they can have fun looking like a frat boy. So as long as they aren't throwing back some Natty Ice on the median of University, I say more power to them.

I mean, if I got to choose what they wore, I would put them in Red LU shirts. But I don't get to choose what they wear. Just like the guy in the 4th row at the game in a black Billabong T-Shirt. Nothing we can do about that...

Superjon, I have no idea who you are and or why you would address me by a name but I think this whole blog has gotten out of control... As an outsider readiing this, you really should understand how this comes across as being very judgemental and many comments were extremely uncalled for... I am not condoning drinking nor have there been any texts made to someone whom to me is an anonymous blogger!!!! My response was not to Superjon but to the whole topic and the responses made at the time. I wrote how refreshing it was to see tailgating going on all over campus and that it was great to see excitement about the game by the student body. I don't know where the reference to drinking came from... I saw grills fired up and students as well as parents/fans enjoying pregame tailgating. My reference to tailgating was not associated with drinking. There was plenty of good clean fun going on and it was great to see a high "game day" atmosphere!!!! I thought the 20 something students dressed in the southern tradition were precious! Accusing these kids of disrespect is rediculous! Dictating what the kids wear to a game is rediculous! Encouraging the kids to wear red, is just that, encouragement! These kids dressed stylishly and were very conservative... They also showed respect to the school and the players by staying till the end of the game to cheer on their team! For goodness sakes, can we just chill... Football is in the air and the school is EXCITED!!!!!

:nod :clapping That is a fair and balanced opinion

If I were Brent now would be the time I'd be careful though, obviously a lot of eyes are on he and his group right now, so play by the rules, wear what you want and the long term goals you have for this group may very well happen or at least you have a better chance.

This board is out of control. I don't care what names you call the girl who were dressed up at the game. But when you degrade a player (that you supposedly support) AND his family then you've not only proven that you are a true Liberty football fan, but also that you are a hypocrite. It's funny that you knock member of the team who you so admittently state you support.

It's just that the athletic department has asked we wear red. The stands look so awesome when it looks like a red sea.

But I will give them props for staying the whole time. At least they are better fans than all the jerks who left the game early just because we were blowing them out. Even if we are getting pounded (or pounding them in this case!), you stay until the final whistle, so props to you guys for that.

But don't you want the atmosphere to be the red sea. I know you guys think that you are not making that big of a difference, but when you look at the red sea and see an assortment in the middle that looks like it came from a flower shop, it really throws it off!

And we changed to red at halftime because we are superstitious and we were losing, not because we were going against the AD.

It appears that the allegations and comments being made are slowly being turned into defamation and slander. If these girls are the "yuppies" that you're making them out to be, you better pray that their attorneys don't get involved.

I have the feeling if push came to shove and the AD asked everyone to wear the same exact thing and you cant stand out AT ALL some on this board would have a stroke and interest would slowly fade

If you read some of the earlier threads....youd know pretty much zero people on here are scared of attorneys...its already been threatened.

I believe that people aren't afraid of attorneys. So then, let's take a look at something else, the credibility of the so-called "Lunatics"

The dictionary defines a Lunatic as:
a mentally ill person
an extremely foolish or eccentric person

1. its ridiculous, not rediculous.

2. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, but all those frat guys from other colleges "look" conservative too but they go to the games drunk and even drink during the game. They are party goers and are not conservative at all.

So this is why I think that dressing like that represents frat culture, which is obviously not something this University wants to be involved in!

If I knew how you people made quotes show up at the end of each of your posts as your "seal" Rocketfan's would be mine.

I never made any comments about anybody's family, however, if jp is an actual member of the team then his momma should have taught him better sense than to post on a sports message board during season. That's what makes him an idiot.

So their attorneys are going to sue us for speaking our minds. You ever hear of the 1st amendment? That's why people can say things like "F" you and I hope that gets me kicked off of here! (Sorry, that's a joke from something earlier on this board)

So, when I wear my polo oxford shirt, lacoste hat, sperries and croakies to class you assume that I woke up that morning hung over at a frat house over in Lynchburg college? You cannot make assumptions based upon the fact that people dress in a classy manner. I don't think Lilly Pulitzer, Polo, or Vinyard Vines on someones body promotes drunkeness or a culture that Liberty doesn't promote.

I don't think that sticking up for his biggest fans and friends makes him in any way an idiot. Plus, there are plenty of athletes on this board who voice their opinion throughout the year.

Well we use it in form of an adjective, not a noun. As in the word describes us... In that case here is what a LUnatic is....

insane; demented; crazy.
characteristic or suggestive of lunacy; wildly or recklessly foolish.
designated for or used by the insane: a lunatic asylum.
gaily or lightheartedly mad, frivolous, eccentric, etc.: She has a lunatic charm that is quite engaging.

Either way, we are crazy fans and that's what we are going for. So if you want to put a spin on it and call us all mentally ill then go right ahead. Good job attacking the personal character of anyone who disagrees with your opinion!

I think he is referring to the fact that it is an NCAA violation and he could be declared ineligible for that!
