COASTAL FRESHMAN SUSPENDED: A freshman Coastal Carolina football player has been suspended from the team and the school after he was charged with simple assault.

Campus police say Jeremy Harden of Hamlet was arrested Monday after a residence hall fight.

The university and athletics officials say Harden will be suspended until his case is dealt with by campus judicial officials.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports Harden is the sixth Chanticleers football player arrested in the past year.

Freshman William Chandler was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct last week.

Since there is some apparent confusion over which Coastal player got arrested when, let me help clarify. From the latest article:

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - There are more problems for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Another football player has been arrested.

Officials with the North Myrtle Beach Police told WMBF News they arrested Scott Fambrough at 2:30 a.m. Thursday. According to police, officers responded to a black SUV driving erratically. They say Fambrough had a strong smell of alcohol and his eyes were unfocused and his speech was slurred.

Fambrough is/was the starting TE.

On a serious note, it's obvious this kid has a drinking problem. I just hope he gets help from somewhere before he really does something stupid and kills someone. I don't care if he's at a rival school or not, the fact still remains that he needs to turn his life around before he takes someone else's.

Agreed SJ. Also we should remember that we could end up in the same situation if we are not careful. One cannot predict what a 20 something year old walking hormone may do. Don't think Rocco would ever let it get there though.

Pickens said he was leading a group of students in a cheer during the CCU vs. Towsen game when an officer told him to sit down, “Finally I asked him why we had to sit down and of course, I spoke up. I pointed out a couple of different crowds that were standing up he hadn’t asked to sit down, so he told me to turn around and put me into custody,” Pickens told News13. The officer then booked him into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he spent five and a half hours.
