Because you'll be seeing a heck of a lot of it on the ESPN/ABC networks starting the 2009-2010 school year.

The Big Ten started its own network.

The SEC did not have to start its own network.

ESPN started it for them.

That’s the gist of today’s staggering announcement. The Worldwide Leader bought the SEC brand, lock, stock and barrel. ESPN is paying an unprecedented $2.25 billion to broadcast all events – including football games not telecast by CBS – over the next 15 years.

Well, they're the best conference in college football (sorry Sly...the Big 12 is below the SEC)...definitely a lot of quality ball ESPN picked up.

another good thing about this deal: once 2009-2010 rolls around, no more raycom sports coverage of SEC. That's almost enough to make me shed tears of joy.

Uh oh, good news for the SEC and/or Arkansas. I think I will be hearing my wife and her family calling the hawgs. WHOOO PIG SOOIE!!!

Also, somewhere in South Bend, everyone on the administration at Notre Dame gets a tingle up their leg about the future extension of their NBC contract.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you confess on here that you were a fan of Georgia Bulldogs football?

I agree with this. However, I would rather watch SMU/UTEP than an NFL game......so gotta give C-USA some credit.

I don't think you'll find much support on that one.

I'd rather watch an SMU/UTEP matchup than South Carolina/Vandy or Arkansas/Mississippi State. But I realize that asking a Texan about SEC football is probably not a fair assessment.

I think most everyone would agree that major showdowns like the Cocktail Party deserve national recognition. But mediocre games between SEC bottom feeders aren't going to pull major national numbers.

I have to agree and this is where I feel the major media misrepresents the SEC year after year. Sure, they have some unbelievable programs, but so do the other majors, and the SEC bottom feeders are just as bad as the other major conference bottom feeders. I've never felt from top to bottom it's the best conference every year. Maybe the top 4-5 might be better than the top 4-5 in the other conferences in any given year, but most of the SEC is not that good or exciting to watch.
