Don't look at the Elon #2 and let is scare you just because it's a #2. Yes, Elon is going to be very good this year, but if you look at the poll, only ten points separate 2nd place from 6th place. That's a very small margin. It basically says 2nd through 6th in the SoCon is up for grabs and Elon came out on top in the preseason. If two votes were changed Elon could've been fourth or fifth. That's how tight the SoCon is.
Let me reiterate that I'm not saying Elon doesn't deserve it or that they're not good. I'm just pointing out how close it was from 2nd-6th in that league.
True. There's a spectacular drop-off after 6th. I wonder what the minimum number of points in that poll is because I'm pretty sure that Samford got it.
The real surprise to me is ND State being picked to win the Missouri Valley considering that they were in a different conference last year and weren't playoff-eligible. I guess beating a Big 10 team in the Metrodome really does elevate the respect level for your program.

I agree... but Wofford and Georgia Southern both beat App last year, and Elon is rated above them. Regardless of what their records were and how many players they lost coming into this year, they still beat the national champions.... And Elon is rated above them!

Elon beat Wofford at Wofford and GaSo.
Im not saying Elon should or shouldnt be above them. Im saying you cant say oh Wofford beat App State so Wofford should be listed above Elon, the team that beat Wofford on their turf.

I second this motion.
We will now vote to approve or deny.

I find it funny that this website gives people courage to be jerks when they would never talk to people like that face to face.
Another thing that you have to remember is when something is in writing it can be read in a few different ways. I should have explained myself better now that I look at my post again.
All I was saying is that, regardless of the fact that they beat both teams, it is still impressive that they are rated 2nd in this strong conference. Both of these teams beat the national champions and it is impressive that Elon beat them and is still ranked above them in the pre-season poll. If Elon was to pull an upset on App this year it could make our game with them all the more interesting.
Anyways, don't worry about having your little vote because I'm thinking about not posting on here anymore anyways. All these things being said about me on here are by people who are supposed to be my friends and fellow members of the LUnatics. It makes me not even want to be part of the group next year either.
