This may be HMO's best thread of all time: it's a great combination of curiosity, innocence, & unintentional humor.

Brandino, I think his real name was Brandon, died in a house fire a year or two ago near Fort Ave. I believe he was the son, or adopted son of the owner of Coleman-Glass, which is why he's on their billboards and signs.

The News & Advance
January 23, 2007

Investigators said Tuesday that Brandon Bryant Coleman, 33, of Lynchburg died Saturday in a Sandusky-area house fire.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a house at 5912 Fort Ave. around 5:30 a.m. and burned through the roof.

Firefighters searched the area of the house they could reach, but did not find Coleman’s body until the fire was out, Lynchburg Fire Battalion Chief Fred Mills said on Saturday.

The house had been divided into apartments and it appeared no one was living downstairs, Mills said.

Investigators with the Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office and Lynchburg Police Department are not sure how the fire started and continue to investigate the incident.

Coleman’s obituary in The News & Advance said he was an employee of Coleman-Glass Construction and the son of Joe and Anne Coleman.
-------------

From what I've heard, Brandon did have some type of disability/handicap.

FlameNForest, I hate to admit it, but you are a better online researcher than I am. I've been doing Google searches for 2 days trying to find this story but with no success whatsoever. Good work!

HMO, this was just posted on Craigslist from Brandino's mother:
Brandino is our son who perished in a fire on Fort Avenue a year ago. We love and miss him very much. We just want to keep his memory alive anyway we can. Brandon was a special needs child full of love and laughter. He was 33 years old when he passed away! Brandino was the HEART OF OUR FAMILY!

While the loss of Brandino affects our family in a tremendous way, it is compounded by the fact that the police, the fire marshal and the State Medical Examiner have ruled the cause of death and the cause of fire as undetermined.

If anybody reads this and knows anything about this incident please contact us or the police.

Thank you

Anne I Coleman
And I guess you are correct afterall about him being a "special needs" child.

Every time I passed the board on the 29 expressway near Scaremare, I spent some brain cells thinking about what this guys story was. Now I don't have to wonder anymore... Thanks!

You are welcome!

Sad story for sure...the colors all the signs are in make sense...I thought he was a special needs worker for Southern Air (same colors) or something...but this thread figured it out for me!

It kind of bothers me in a way because the cost of this could go to something better than advertising someones name. I understand death is painful we all need to morn one way or another but if someone wants to spend money to relive someone else's memory they should start some sort of education grant in their name for example not posting billboards or street landscape wooden signs.

I dunno...they are paying their respects and honoring them in their way...our's is retiring jersey's and wearing a patch...they cant do that....plus, I think the amount of money they have they can afford to do all of what you said...and who knows maybe awareness creates more money in that fund
