my brother gave me a bunch of movies and i also may have downloaded a few. i've watched a handful.

this is what i've watched this weekend

semi-pro
blades of glory
knocked up
superbad
forgetting sarah marshall
indiana jones
national treasure

uh...will ferrell is no longer funny? i think its safe to say....both of those movies were horrible.
uh...apatow should never make another film again? that would be nice....knocked up was a chick flick with the f-word and sex talk thrown in for the guys. Forgetting sarah marshall was a smidge funnier but essentially the same thing...Superbad might be the worst of the 3. great plot. HS graduate losers try and get booze for a party. super original. the main character is boring, the fat kid isn't funny, and the kid with the glasses made me want to punch a baby. nevermind that the chicks in the movie were awful. oh and the F-word can be funny sometimes when its PART of a joke, not when it IS the joke.

indiana jones and national treasure....uh did the director of national treasure steal the script out from under lucas's nose? this was essentially the same movie...

i enjoyed both.....however while the other indiana jones movies have a semblance of impossibility, the 4th one was a bit more extreme....and the kid swinging through the vines almost ruined the rest of the movie....how stupid...

I recommend never getting movies from your brother ever again, the ones he gave you aren't much better than the $3 dollar rack of DVDs at Big Lots...

I've seen most of those listed above and I agree wholeheartedly in your analysis. It is a rare movie lately that has been entertaining.

I liked 40 Year Old Virgin.

Knocked Up wasn't bad.

However, all of their movies after that have been the exact same, and the one coming out soon doesn't look much difference.

Same with Will Ferrell.

I found National Treasure to be most entertaining and may be in my top 20 faves of all time.

See, when the wife is gone, you have to go with the movies you have at home that you know you won't be able to watch once she's around...

For me:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (while she would watch them, she wouldn't watch them all. In a row. Without stopping for 11 hours.)
Star Wars
Any James Bond flick
Bikini Car Wash Three -- i mean, uh... "Sense and Sensibility"
Tommy Boy, Wayne's World, Billy Madison, or Happy Gilmore.

man, I haven't seen a good movie in forever. I keep renting the Apatow movies when they come out but I can only get though about 10 minutes of them before my wife makes me turn them off. I try to rationalize "this is how people talk, honey", but no dice. But really what I get to watch, isn't all that funny. I watched the King of Kong on G4 this weekend. It was pretty hilarious but documentaries don't count.

oh yeah...my wife would of not watched the apatow movies or semi pro.

usually when she was out of town i would get to watch all the movies she wouldn't. like R comedies and R action movies.

but now that i hardly ever get to watch a movie not on TBS/USA/FX i just want to watch ANY movie...

its been fun...

i'm about to sit down to Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

i watched 10,000 bc this afternoon and it now gets on my list of worst movies ever made.

i've been by myself for 3 days now. i've varnished over 200 ft of trim and laid about 100 of it. i built a 6' x 2' x 2' entertainment center hutch/cabinet. i've built 8'x 12' shelves for my basement storage area. i've hauled 20 wheel barrows of dirt around my property, i've changed the brakes , changed the oil and rotated the tires on my 2 vehicles.... in 3 days...

Mallet, that's more house work than most husbands do in a year (and more than some college students have done in their young lifetime).

Good movie. The homoerotic overtones may be a bit much for some but it's still a solid film.

OK, I just finished up the new(er) rambo. That is the best movie I have seen in many many years. I didn't think they made movies like that anymore. I was almost confused by rather straight forward ending, with it's lack of twist. So gory and so wonderful. The only thing is I thought they killed the main Burmese guy like 10 times. I don't know if that makes me racist or just stupid. If you like 80s shoot em up movies, which is what I was raised on, this is better.
