You tell me how those two things aren't great for a Winthrop team that's got a lot of young players. Even if he doesn't contribute that great on the court, he'll be able to bring along those younger players. We would kill to have someone of that maturity level and with that experience playing for free on our team to help bring along these young guys.

(Just thought I'd toss in my two-cents. I'm no program "insider." I've confirmed this with basketball coaches at another school who have seen both of them play many times, and were after them desparately at one point.)

Cam is a friend of mine and he is a GREAT pick up for Winthrop. He will definitely be a great influence off the court. He's had his struggles on the courts since his senior year in HS, minor nagging injuries and such. However, he is very athletic and plays hard. Although I wish he would have had a better career at Wake on the court, I always thought he was a little undersized, kind of a tweener for the ACC. He may excell at Winthrop and be sort of a one year wonder....ya never know. Wish he would have walked on with us...

I'm sure he's a great guy off the court, but there's really no room for him at LU right now, especially in terms of actually playing. His opportunity to see actual playing time at Winthrop this year is far greater than anything LU could have promised. That's why he's there.

Again, I'm sure he's a great character guy. But where exactly would he have fit in, at LU, as far as playing time goes? Which young guy gets to see more bench time in your judgement?

Why even discuss that? There was no chance we landed this guy. He said he wanted to go to a program that had a phys ed/sport management grad program and had a chance to play in the NCAAs. He's not coming to Liberty right now for either of those so it doesn't matter.

Every time I've mentioned him and Liberty I said we'd love to have some type of player with that experience to help bring along the freshmen in practice and get them ready. That's what I think his main benefit to Winthrop will be. If he gets points for them then that's just an added benefit.

Well, Winthrop is a better fit for him, he'll have an opportunity to play, which is not a realistic possibility at LU. He seems to have made a sound choice. Good for him.

On the other hand, I really don't think that LU is the least bit jealous about this one

I don't know, I think I'd probably take a A-10 proven frosh of the week over any "studs" that have never played a D1 game. Of course, WU brought in plenty of "studs" this year as well, so I think I'll just take the best of both worlds.

You're making it sound like Peele is doing something that Marshall didn't do. Yet Marshall brought in a handful of transfers during his time at WU. So I'm not sure I see the difference from what Peele is doing with what Marshall did before. And as shakeshoes said, WU is bringing in its share of freshmen as well, it isn't as if they are relying solely on these transfers.
