I wanted to tell someone so I thought i'd share here.

I went fishing this afternoon at the river right behind the dam that is between the Roanoke River and the Roanoke Rapids Lake. The place I fished was about a 10 foot drop off from land to the water. As I was sitting on the ledge fishing, I hooked a pretty decent size bass with just a worm. I stood up to reel in and about halfway up I dropped him. Well, after I swore out-loud to myself, I re-bated and dropped my line in, only to see a huge rockfish (Probably 3-4 ft). I'm pretty sure rockfish season ended in May - but there was no one around and I have a 5 gal. bucket, so I figured if I caught him, nobody would miss it if I snuck back through the woods and got in the truck and left. Well, about this time, about a 5 foot water moccasin starts swimming that way. So I raise my bait out of the water (didn't watch to catch that snake) and like a lightning bolt darts to the fish and takes it under. After about 3 minutes, the fish comes up floating.

Just wanted to share that story.
