vs. North Greenville…. Umm, we win, handily (1-0)

vs. Glenville St…. We win, hopefully no one gets hurt in the first 2 games (2-0)

@ Western Carolina… This will be our first test. WCU has a new coach, and they could be really up for this game. I still think we win, but it will be close. (3-0)

@ Youngstown State… Huge game, we win this and I think we are in the playoffs as long as we don’t give up another game we should win. It will be close, but I just don’t see us pulling it out. (3-1)

@ Coastal Carolina… This is for the conference championship. We will not lose another conference game and I don’t consider being tied with someone a ‘ship even though the league does. Both teams will be jacked and should be a great atmosphere. In the end I think we have too much firepower for them. (4-1)

vs. Stony Brook… Don’t know a lot about them, but being at home I see us on the good end of the score. (5-1)

vs. Lafayette… Could be a spot where we slip up, but I think Rocco & co will have us prepared and we pull it out. (6-1)

vs. CSU… Glorified scrimmage (7-1)

@ Presby… No doubt they will want to show us they belong in our conference and can compete for conference championships, but not this year. (8-1)

@ VMI… Always a tough place to play with the cadets, but we are too big and strong. (9-1)

vs. Gardner Webb… This game will hopefully wrap up the conference championship for us, and we will be too good for them, again. (10-1)

vs. Elon… This game could go either way. They are going to be really good, and they creamed us last year. I think we will not let what happen down there last year happen again, and will come out on top in a close one. (11-1)

What's yours?

If we head into the Elon game with a shot at making the playoffs, I would encourage the students that can to make that game. It would be huge!!!

me and bryson will have people here for the elon game.

we may run a side tailgate beside the flamefans one for some games, i think bryson's dad is bringing the Duke tailgating gear up for the games when LU is home and duke is away

What's yours?

vs. North Greenville: Season opener...thousands of fans...team totally jacked up...I think its going to be a great night and LU goes 3-0 in season openers under Danny Rocco LU 35-0

vs. Glenville St.: Last time GSU came to town, they scored 7 points and LU trounced them...LU still trounces them...and they score even fewer points LU 31-3

@ Western Carolina: LU pounded the Catamounts in Lynchburg and they pretty much spiraled downhill from there. They have a new coach, and this one is on the road...but LU takes this one LU 28-14

@ Youngstown St.: The Penguins may be down this year, but they are very tough in their place. LU has lost the last three times theyve played YSU (Swing Game)

@ Coastal Carolina: LU has never one on their biannual trip to the beach. Coastal definitely hasnt forgotten the summary pounding they got last year in Lynchburg. The league title will probably come down to this game...LU BEATS COASTAL...again LU 38-21

vs Stony Brook: This is a new team for Liberty...but we will be on a 10 game home winning streak and possibly a 10 game overall streak...make both of those 11 41-21

vs. Lafayette: I agree with jc in that we could slip up here...but the home streak runs to 12 LU 28-21

vs, Charleston Southern: Its homecoming...its Charleston Southern...its a baker's dozen LU 49-7

@ Presbyterian: The Blue Hose are definitely smarting from last year's rout. It is a road game, but LU will again dominate LU 42-14

@ VMI: This is the final road game of the year and VMI is always tough at home (as bad as they were two years ago we only won by 6 there) This one's close, but LU keeps on rolling and sets a record for wins in a season LU 41-36

vs. Gardner Webb: this game was the conference championship last year. I think LU locks up their second straight championship LU 31-10

vs. Elon Here is the game that everybody will probably circle on their calendar. Losing this game could mean goodbye to an at large berth. The guys on the team last year havent forgotten what happened in NC last year...but its not going to be a walk. Elon is too good...(MAJOR Swing Game)

We could definitely split the two swing games for sure. If we win both that would be awesome.

I think that the games that will really be big this year will be @ YSU and then the Elon game. We could lose either of those games

Wow! I love the optimism. It will be tough to pull that off. But it certainly is possible.

Well Ive never seen myself as a jinx. I try to look on teh bright side of a lot of things (although soem things dont HAVE a bright side...just ask the New York Mets...) and I think this schedule works well for us. YSU is probably the oen game that if we were to lose, that would be the one Id pick but I think these guys are gonna really make some magic this year.

How many LU fans can the "spiraling downhill" Catamounts expect in Cullowhee for this "sure" LU win?

If you've never been to Western, I think you'll enjoy our little valley between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains, the tailgating (so come early), make a side trip to Dillsboro and Cherokee, as well as "The Pride of the Mountains" Marching Band.

But, just a word of warning, you probably will not like the new Catamount football team.

I'm looking forward to the game. I for one am not taking that game as a "sure win." I know it will be tough to come down there and pick up the W. If we were playing at home I would put it in the "sure win" category.

Unforunately, I won't be able to make the trip primarily because of gas prices. I'm going to 8/12 games this year which includes making a trip to Coastal, unfortunately I can't go to Cullowhee although I would love to.

While I am excited about this team, I am not ready to say we are running the table. This team has a LOT to prove still. So let's see it. Western will be a great test, and I'm excited to see how we do. Don't forget they are SoCon, and it's not like they're just garbage. They are better than William and Mary, and we lost to them. Let's wait and see how we do in the Mountains before we get fitted for rings with "12-0" on them.

WCU has come a long way in a short amount of time, much like LU did after the hellacious 2005 season. I look forward to the game. I might make the trip (Im not driving either way) but I think itll be a great game between the two (definitely not gonna be like the game in Lynchburg in 06)

LU still trounces them
they pretty much spiraled downhill
definitely hasnt forgotten the summary pounding they got last year
definitely smarting from last year's rout
Why does everything have to be so dramatic? Who are you? Bill Walton?

Its homecoming...its Charleston Southern...its a baker's dozen
What does this mean? It would be the 8th win, not 13th. We're not scoring 13 touchdowns. 13 field goals is 39, not 49. I have clue what this means.

Unfortunately I don't expect too many people to make this trip. Of our five road games this year, four of them are five hours or more in drive time. With gas prices and more appealing road games (read: Coastal), I think a lot of people, especially students, will save their money and go to other games. I'm hoping I'm wrong. I would love to be absolutely wrong on this.

Have they? Based on what? I was under the impression that they haven't actually played a game since their last "hellacious" season.

The Charleston Southern game would be our 13th win at home in a row (assuming we dont lose to SB or Lafayette)

There is absolutely zero chance that Liberty goes 12-0 this year. None. Zilch. Nada.

There is always a chance. Just not a very good one based on that schedule.

Thanks for that JDUB and Mr Lang. Id hate to be the one solely deemed responsible should that not happen.

I do think that there are a couple of swing games this year: @YSU and vs Elon to close out the year. I think that we win those games we could be looking at a very special season.
